Bring Our Money Or Risk Your Lives, Boko Haram Tells 'negotiators' by Ddaji(m): 9:25am On Oct 17, 2011
Boko Haram leaders yesterday asked some Nigerians to return the money they “fraudulently collected” from top federal and Borno State governments’ officials on the pretence that they would facilitate dialogue with them (the sect members) to lay down their arms.

The group did not mention the names of the people it suspected or the government officials that gave the money.

Spokesman of the group, Abul-Qaqa who spoke to Daily Trust on phone yesterday, said after serious threats, some of the “negotiators” had responded positively.

“We have so far recovered over N12 million from the fraudsters,” he said.

The group also alleged that some non- governmental organizations were collecting money from top government officials “in the name of striking a deal with our group.”

Abul-Qaqa said such individuals and groups must surrender what they collected or prepare to accept the consequences of their actions.

According to him, “Some people have made our noble struggle a business venture of collecting millions of naira from various governments. We know the perpetrators and they must stop. They must also surrender all the monies they collected on our behalf if they want to live in peace.

“So far, we have contacted some of the persons that are linked with such deals. Some of them have confirmed to us that they were indeed given money, but some are proving stubborn. We know where all of them live and we know their movements,” he said.

He added that, “Anyone who returns the money for us to use it for the cause of Allah will be spared by us, but those that are not cooperating will be visited by our members very soon and their names will be given to journalists”.

Efforts to speak to government officials in Maiduguri were successful. The telephone lines of the commissioner for information and that of the governor’s spokesman were not going through.source:www.dailytrust.com

Kai !!! See what they have allowed Boko Haram to become. A junta de-facto Government running parallel to the democratically elected one able to openly threaten Nigerians and dictate to them!!! What next? GEJ must give certain Government positions to Boko Haram members? Boko Haram members must collect stipend or we face "hell"? When the FG is capitulating to Boko Haram why will the group not feel it is now the de-facto power in Nigeria?

Anyway, let Government continue it myopic pacifism. I guess Nigerians are now learning how to extract what they want from a callous FG. Soon we will even have militant housewives !!!! Recurrent expenditure will then rise to 90% on account of what will be used to pay off numerous radical/militant groups!!!!

Ah, so it does appear that even these extremists have a price. Interesting.

My brother, money makes the world go round. How dem for buy 'materials'? We know they now have wealthy sponsors but who ever says no to a bit of on-the-side 'jara'? Soon they will ask us on Nairaland to pay before we mention "Boko Haram" or "face the consequences" grin grin grin When you have been allowed , through sheer leadership incompetence and cluelessness, to metamorphose into a group Nigerians dread , why not make some 'free' money into the bargain? It is the nature of man to take advantage of the obvious fear, hesitancy and capitulation of others.

If Boko Haram know your name and address, will you not pay up also when you know the FG cannot safegaurd your life? Is it not this same group Governors, talking tough against yesterday, are now begging for forgiveness?
