Hello Nairalanders. Can we talk a little bit about Vocational Education or training. Vocational training, for the benefit of those who don't know it, is the type of hands- on, practical based education or training that is given to a person to prepare them to become gainfully employed immediately after training, hence it is technical in nature. Vocational trainings have a lot of advantages when compared to University Education: 1. The durations are shorter, average duration is 1year compared to university degrees that lasts 3 to 4years. 2. Vocational trainings cost less than regular university degrees, hence you save money eg in the UK a vocational program costs an average of £8,000/year compared to a degree that will cost at least £15,000/yr. 3. Prospective employers find vocational trainees to be more job ready because a good portion of the curriculum is practical based and are carried out in real live workplaces. 4. Most vocational trainings can be topped up to degrees later if the student or trainee wants to go further. 5. People who have studied vocational programs such as: Automotive repair technicians, carpentry and joinery, catering, plumbing, HVAC, Electrical technicians, Accounting Technicians etc can after they have gained experience set up their own businesses. Please have your say, what do you think about studying a vocational course. Meanwhile, you can click the link in my profile/signature to register for free for a vocational education fair coming in 2023 to Abuja, Lagos and Portharcourt with representatives from schools in the UK, USA and Canada coming to speak to candidates. 2 Likes |
