Prof. Mamman expressed the current administration’s deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing assaults on education in Nigeria, particularly in the wake of the gruesome murder of a nursing student at FUOYE. In response to this tragic event, the minister revealed that he had instructed the university’s vice-chancellor to collaborate with security agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators for potential prosecution. The NAEC served as a platform for various stakeholders to deliberate on ways to enhance entrepreneurial skills, vocational education, and technical education within the Nigerian educational system. Prof. Mamman commended the organizers for their forward-thinking approach and emphasized that the conference aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to promote technical and vocational education. This vision aims to provide opportunities for the millions of young school leavers who complete primary and secondary education annually but face challenges in securing admission to tertiary institutions. The minister’s remarks underscored the importance of the conference, occurring shortly after his appointment as the Federal Minister of Education.
