The Bittersweet Truth: Posthumous Appreciation Of Artists - Remembering Mohbad by COMPUTERVILLA(m): 4:30pm On Sep 13, 2023
Have you ever noticed how it often takes a tragic event, like the passing of an artist, for us to fully appreciate their talents and the impact they had on our lives? Why is it that we tend to flock to an artist's work and celebrate their genius only when they're no longer with us? These questions have been on my mind since we lost Mohbad on September 12, 2023.

The Paradox of Posthumous Appreciation

It's a paradox that has been observed time and time again. The moment news of an artist's death breaks, their music suddenly finds its way back into our playlists, their lyrics are dissected, and their legacy is celebrated. But why couldn't we give them this same level of love and recognition when they were alive to see it?

Mohbad, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, was no exception to this phenomenon. While he was alive, many of us enjoyed his music, danced to his beats, and maybe even sang along to his songs. But did we truly understand the depth of his artistry? Did we take the time to appreciate the stories, emotions, and expressions woven into his lyrics?

The Rush of Life

One possible explanation for this pattern is the nature of our existence. Life has a way of getting us caught up in its fast pace, drowning us in the noise of the present. We assume there will always be another opportunity to express our admiration and gratitude. We believe that artists will continue to create, and their art will always be there for us to enjoy.

But the truth is, artists, like all of us, are mortal. They too face the unpredictability of life, and we often forget that they need our support and appreciation while they are here to witness it.

Mohbad: An Example of Underrated Brilliance

Mohbad's music was more than just melodies and rhythms. It was a window into his world, a reflection of his experiences and the world around him. His lyrics held meaning that resonated with many of us, yet we failed to fully embrace and celebrate his talent during his lifetime.

Now, as we mourn his untimely passing, we find solace in his music. His songs are once again climbing the charts, trending on social media, and filling our playlists. Tributes and heartfelt messages flood our feeds. We realize the depth of his artistry and the impact he had on us, but it's bittersweet knowing he's no longer here to witness it.

A Call for Change

Let's not allow this pattern to repeat itself. Let's remember Mohbad not just in his absence but in our daily lives. Let's appreciate the artists we have while they are here to share their art with us. Let's honor his memory by continuing to celebrate his music and the incredible talent he was.

In the end, the posthumous appreciation of artists is a bittersweet reminder of the beauty and fragility of life. It's a call for us to value the creators and their creations while they are among us, so they can experience the joy and gratitude their work brings to our lives.

Rest in peace, Mohbad. Your music will forever be a part of our lives, and your legacy will live on.
