CSU Doubts Authenticity Of Tinubu’s Certificate- Leadership Newspapers by KEVIND: 11:30am On Sep 14, 2023 |
The Chicago State University (CSU) has said that it was unsure whether the certificate that President Bola Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 presidential election was genuine or not. Counsel to the university, Michael Hayes, told the court during its hearing on Tuesday, September 12, that the CSU could not validate whether the certificate Tinubu presented to INEC was a genuine or forged document. This position contradicts an earlier stance of the CSU that it issued a certificate to the Nigerian president after he graduated in 1979. “Is the diploma authentic, or is it a forgery? My client can’t answer yes to either of those questions,” Mr Hayes said at the hearing in Chicago that began at about 1:30 p.m. (local time) and lasted several hours in the lawsuit brought by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election and Tinubu’s main rival. According to the lawyer, the CSU cannot say if placed under oath, “where and how” Tinubu obtained the certificate. “My clients just don’t know,” Hayes said on Monday, in a move that seems a possible push back from the CSU after Tinubu, during a previous sitting of the court, blamed the discrepancies on the certificates purportedly issued by the CSU on the school’s clerk. Mr Hayes was responding to the judge’s inquiry into the school’s ability to confirm under oath that Mr Tinubu was issued the certificate he tendered to INEC in June 2022, in fulfillment of a constitutional requirement to qualify him to run for the office of the President. It is against the Nigerian Constitution to submit forged documents to INEC. Mr Hayes insisted that CSU records showed Mr Tinubu attended the school, but admitted there were several contradictions that the school’s administrators won’t be able to clarify under oath. Those discrepancies include the June 22, 1977, date that Tinubu’s certificate asserts, as well as the school’s president at the time the certificate was obtained and typographical, font and header errors on the document. However, on June 17, 2022, Tinubu submitted a certificate to INEC that was purportedly issued in 1979 and signed by Elnora Daniel, who was not yet a staff member of the CSU until 1998 – same year that Tinubu incidentally contested election as governor of Lagos State. Ms. Daniels was said to have left the school in 2008 following a financial mismanagement scandal, or 14 years before June 2022 when CSU issued yet a fresh certificate in Tinubu’s name under subpoena from a Nigerian lawyer who had inquired about Tinubu’s education there. These contradictions, among others, are the reasons that Atiku filed the suit to compel CSU to produce records relating to Tinubu and make its top officials available for deposition to certify the produced records. Alexandre de Gramont, who appeared in court for Atiku, said the documents and depositions are being sought for use in the Nigerian Supreme Court, where the final battle over Tinubu’s election is now headed. Gramont said the Nigerian Court of Appeal upheld Tinubu’s election in its September 6 ruling because the panel did not have CSU’s position on the authenticity of the certificate presented by Tinubu, and that the Supreme Court in Nigeria might be able to admit CSU’s position on the document under a special rule. “Your Honour, we don’t know whether the Nigerian Supreme Court would be receptive to the new evidence or not, but we just want to be able to present the new evidence to them from CSU,” Mr de Gramont said. “We already have them (the documents), what we are seeking is CSU’s authentication or their explanation for some of the discrepancies.” The presiding judge, Jeffery Gilbert, said the court has always taken a liberal and broad view in granting similar requests under Section 1782, a statute that allows the release of documents and evidence domiciled in the U.S. to be obtained and used in a foreign proceeding. Tinubu’s lawyers, represented via telephone conference by Christopher Carmichael, said Atiku was on a fishing expedition, noting that the previous statements of CSU to the effect that Tinubu graduated from the school were enough. Carmichael said there was no need to produce further evidence or place the school’s officials under oath to speak to the authenticity of Tinubu’s certificate, saying the proceeding would only fuel online trolls because the Supreme Court won’t accept new evidence even if produced. Consequently, Judge Gilbert said he would need additional time to reflect before ruling on the matter, but asked lawyers to all the parties to go through records submitted before the court and update them if necessary in the meantime. He said a date for a final ruling or additional hearing would be communicated to the parties. https://leadership.ng/csu-doubts-authenticity-of-tinubus-certificate/ N/B The mods have been tagging this news as fake news since yesterday & suppressing it. I feel for Honorable Judge Gilbert, he was simply stupefied by the scoop & possibly scale of the fraud and identity theft done by Asiwaju! And how he has been getting away with it since early 90s! Do you know that as far back as 1990, CSU has found out that Tinubu used an Oluwole to gain Admission into CSU. That is why they have refused to issue him a genuine certificate and dude has to resort to get it through the back door! There is a case currently in the supreme court in the US that looks like this. A genuine graduate came back to the school to issue him an affidavit that he graduated from the school. Mind you, this ex student has certificate, matriculation and all that. But for certain type of jobs in the US, you affidavit of this sort. This affidavit is needed for the new job the graduate just got. Guess what? The school searched their archive and found where a staff wrote a memo of sexual harassments brought against the ex student. The school refused to issue him the Affidavit. The graduate took the school to court requesting full disclosure about the allegation. The reason for this is that once a certificate is issued, it simply means you who issued it have check 7 found that person worthy. And if at the time you issued it, and it is found that you have some information proving that that person isnt worthy, guess what? You can be sued for misleading the public! United States of A is not a banana republic, it is a well run & well documented environment anyone sane would love to live! 3 Likes |

Let us continue to explain things to them gently may be they will Understand better Ok same way you voted for Peter Obi is the same way others voted for Tinubu and Atiku Peter Obi failed to get 25 % in any Sharia Muslim States so that alone is already 12 States lost . (Almost one third of the Federation's States already) plus the 5 SW States where he failed to get 25 % that is already 17 States lost where he didn't get the mandatory 25% National Spread In Two Thirds of the Federation . We haven't yet added Kogi ,Kwara and others o ! Peter Obi lost!! Even if you want to very stubbornly argue that the 5 SW States results were rigged and exclude them ( But in that case the APC will also argue for the SE results to be excluded too for the very same reason) Then include only the 12 Sharia Muslim States where Peter Obi failed to get 25% and add Kwara and Kogi State too That is already a total of 14 States, Peter Obi could not afford to have 25% in less than 24 states without loosing Peter Obi still lost the Elections!!!!! 1 Like |

Lol, Nigeria media and regurgitating same useless headline. This is their reply. They keep saying that Atiku is delusional because he keep parroting propaganda even after they’ve given him evidence that Tinubu is indeed a graduate of their school. 14 Likes 1 Share

KingKO22: The fact that I'm Yoruba doesn't mean I shouldn't say the truth. If Tinubu actually submitted forged documents to INEC, then it's a shame and a further damage to the name of Nigeria. If he is removed based on that, so be it. But both Atiku and Obi are no better administrators than Tinubu. At least, there are school dropouts today who have been able to better their lives than those of us that are graduates. Forget being Ibo or Yoruba, the records prove that Tinubu was a far better governor than Obi. However, let justice/law take its course! I hope the Nigeria Judiciary does justice to this. Atiku and Tinubu know each other well and he is using that well. |

It is against the Nigerian Constitution to submit forged documents to INEC.When it it said that Bola Tinubu is a criminal and an embodiment of anything but fraud, his mummified zombies here on this platform will be neighing like horses on heat disturbing public peace and calling people all manners of names. There they have it. Meanwhile, all these disturbing issues surrounding Bola Adekunle Ahmed Tinubu are the criminality that INEC, PEPT and the Nigerian Judiciary have all legalised as the normal or norm. God is always God and not a man. You may hide or getting away with man, but when your cup is full, no man can save you from God's judgement. 2 Likes

That's a fraudulent headline. I don't know is a popular way for a us attorney to say. I do not have enough information to answer this question. Tending towards an hung case. Basically, the judge would throw out the case for lack of evidences. CSU wins. |

yommen:Chicago University deserves all allegations place on them by Tinubu, a University that fails to stand by the truth but instead trying to cover for an ingrate will surely get the slap of embarrassment. What will it takes the University to come out to say that the certificate does not belong to Tinubu, or that Tinubu falsified hid credentials when seeking admission into the school but instead they were busy playing cat and mouse game with the situation. |
