This article is to say the least alarmist. What was the share price of FB Holdings before the fighr started? What is the realistic value price of FBN Holdings shares? Was it not their roforofo fight that shot up the price in the first instance? The loss being talked about is therefore subjective. 4 Likes 1 Share |

gaby: The stock market fell for several reasons 1. There was too much money in the market fuelled by easy margin loans. Pure speculation resulted- It got to a stage Evans Pharmaceuticals was doubling every x days without any improvement in its fundamentals. 2. As with any bubble...rumour overtook legitimate market news. Who can forget Oceanics phantom financials that led to frenzied buying of its shares. Pure lies. 3. Poor regulation. The NSE was simply chasing records on a booming All share Index. Financial reporting was lax and listed companies did what they liked 4. When Dubai and the US subprime mortgage market was tanking, funds began exiting Nigeria for real estate overseas. I can say that Nigeria almost single handedly saved those markets from collapse. I still remember those girls being prostitutes to sell Dubai properties even in Malls. 5. Foreign portfolio investors did a "concert party" on the Nigerian Market suckering players by pushing up prices and exiting in well timed exits. MMM style. What a time that was - suicides, home foreclosures, tears and anguish. I saw shege from one bank like this on margin loan. Those guys expoited ignorance of margin loan fine print ehn! Sold themselves houses like gala. A time and a half. Kudos to anyone who survived it. 👏 1 Like |

ppogba: Awesome. Trade within a high and low envelope and when you reach the price ceiling sell bearing cost in mind. Contrary action for downside. Hold dividends stock. For your portfolio use your age as the bond or fixed income component and for the rest go all in equities Only liquid stock with decent daily turnover. Wish you all the best 1 Like |
