Unmasking The Lies That Igbos Dominated Ex-President Jonathan’s Government by Eastlink(m): 6:25pm On Sep 19, 2023 |
Prior to the build up to the 2015 general elections, many allegations were propagated nationwide about a supposedly Igbo domination of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government. While notable Igbos were appointed in ministerial and other functions, the evidence provided in this thread will prove that the allegations of Igbo hijack of Jonathan's regime were false. Today all those who accused Jonathan’s of favoritism to the Igbos have done far worst than any government in the history of Nigeria when it comes to appointment and the application of federal character. Since emerging victorious in 2015, the same group who sponsored all forms of victimization and media attacks on Jonathan held major positions in Buhari’s divisive government. Today, with Tinubu as President, it’s becoming obvious that Buhari’s nepotistic rule is child’s play to what is obtainable today. If Buhari was a learner, Tinubu has show himself a Professor in his tribal laden appointments. However, this thread seeks to nullify the lies told about the so-called Igbo domination of Goodluck Jonathan’s government. From the forgoing, we’ll see the top positions in GEJ government as well as the military, paramilitary, judiciary, and executive. We’ll also look at the appointees and their states of origin. I might also summarize the appointments for time sake into their geo-political zones. 15 Likes 5 Shares |

franchasofficia:Easy with the foul language. To be fair to the South-West they didn’t get any top 10 appointment beside the military and paramilitary positions. The North-West actually got large share of positions in Goodluck Jonathan’s government. Perhaps, some neutral tend to blame Tinubu for the shenanigan in the House of Reps where he sponsored Tambuwal against Mulikat Akande to the Speakership position. But even at that, Jonathan should have still find ways to compensate them especially the PDP faithfuls with perhaps another position where external hands can’t influence, something he didn’t do. Even the North East didn’t get top position besides the military appointment. Perhaps, that was why some politicians decided to use Boko-Haram and the Chibok girls kidnap to make Goodluck Jonathan’s government ungovernable. 17 Likes 5 Shares |

chiagozien:Perhaps, as someone said, the Igbo leadership never bothered about countering the media propaganda and onslaught. The individualist attitude of the Igbo politicians then allowed the attack to go unchallenged. Infact, Igbo bond and group political sense died after the coming of democracy in 1999. The PDP and Obasanjo help create that wedge. However, since the emergence of Peter Obi in the last election, the greedy businessmen political system and docile politicians in the South-East seems to have been pushed aside from Igbo political decision making. They have no say anymore. The people now have the say. 27 Likes 5 Shares |

chiagozien:You don’t need to call them tribalistic tribe. You don't group everyone together in one umbrella. Many, perhaps in the minority are nationalistic in philosophy and outlook. Before the coming of Awolowo, the South West had a national outlook which was championed by the likes of Herbert Macaulay, Davis, Alafin of Oyo etc. Perhaps, from the time of Awolowo till now, the South-West became tribally inclined and pushed for their regional interest over national interest. While the north is religiously political, the South-West is tribally political. Only the South-East, perhaps is nationally political. 19 Likes 3 Shares |

I think the man at the helm of affairs in this country wants to empower his people to be power brokers just like he used the state he governed to gather resources he used to ascend to power. An average man should braze up for hardship as all the means to gather liquid (money) for solidification of power must be utilised to the fullest. Petrol, gas, diesel are increasing in price at the benefit of few that run the biz. Tax will increase too. People have to understand how cartel men work. Common man, sorry o; pele.
