I Will Run For Rwanda President For Fourth Term; What West Thinks Isn’t My Probl by Omooba77: 11:00am On Sep 20, 2023 |
Rwanda's President, Paul Kagame, has said he will run for a fourth term in next year's presidential election. “Yes, I am indeed a candidate,” Kagame told French-language magazine Jeune Afrique on Tuesday that he was indeed a candidate in the forthcoming elections scheduled to hold next year. Asked about what the West would think about his decision to run again, Kagame said, "I'm sorry for the West, but what the West thinks is not my problem. I am happy with the confidence that the Rwandans have in me. I will always serve them, as much when I can." The country's ruling party, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi), retained Mr Kagame as its chairman in April. He has led the party since 1998. Kagame has been president of the East African nation since 2000. A controversial referendum in 2015 removed a two-term constitutional limit for presidents. He won the last election in 2017 with 98.8% of the vote. Rwanda under President Kagame has enjoyed relative political stability but critics and human rights groups accuse his government of limiting political freedoms and suppressing dissent. https://saharareporters.com/2023/09/20/i-will-run-rwanda-president-fourth-term-what-west-thinks-isnt-my-problem-paul-kagame |

The west will definitely be ok with it as long as they have something to gain. Howbeit this is wrong , what is it with African leaders and holding unto power? Very soon you'll be ousted by a coup and then you'll start crying again. Why should you not be forcefully removed? Nonsense 2 Likes |

saintopus: I didn't stated that nobody else is capable. But note that "even amongst the capables their is also the most capable" Nigeria is a great country but Rwanda is more stable than Nigeria, economic-wise & security -wise. 1 Like 1 Share |

Adjovi:staying too long in power is not a problem ,after all democracy is one of the many systems of governments, the problem come when the people are oppressed by the leaders, the country is not moving forward and the people are in extreme hardship. They are not complaining about xi,the Russians are ok with Putin nobody is saying MBS should leave his seat, and many other stable Arab nations nations. It's better to have a leader you have tested and trusted than to be changing from one old man to another for than 60 years they all failed solve even a single problem of electricity or even forex crises in the country, not because they don't have what it takes to do it ,but because of selfish interest again national interest . The legislators on the other day in a fully democratic country were sharing 2m each for their holidays when teachers are 30,000 or less in a month. Last week or so your fully democratically elected governors were in his country to learn from him or to create an avenue to waste public funds How much is kagame owing and how much is Nigeria that is a better democracy owing ,infact the height of it all was when Nigeria remove subsidy Wich saves them billions of naira BUT YET THEY ACCEPTED WORLD BANK LOAN IN ORDER TO SHARE PALLIATIVES TO SOFTEN THE EFFECT OF SUBSIDY REMOVAL. the billions of naira they saved for subsidy removal we don't know where it's but the loan must be paid by our unborn generation possibly with their sweat because by then oil will be less important to the world this price crash. Even in Nigeria check our major infrastructures were all built by the military this includes all our refineries that democracy can't maintain, our major high ways etc. So if the man is good for his people let him stay 1 Like |

Adjovi: There’s no limit to the number of terms, they removed it in 2015. His people are not complaining, they are still voting for him in landslide. Like he said, nobody cares about what other countries think. 1 Like 1 Share |
