ETSAKO EAST CHAIRMAN, PARTNER AFEMAI LINE, OTHERS TO REINVIGORATE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR IN AGENEBODE -----CPS.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, Mr. Benjamin Atu has revealed the outcome of a series of meetings and discourse between the Management of Afemai Line transportation company and the local government council in restoring commercial activities in the Local Government Headquarters.

He said Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh has concluded arrangement with a popular transportation company in the State, Afemai Line for them to establish a loading park in Agenebode and convey passengers directly from Abuja to Agenebode through the River Niger and from Agenebode directly to Abuja rather than going through Auchi which she said has a negative impact in the development of Agenebode.

According to the CPS, since she assumed office as Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, Hon. (Princess) Benedicta Attoh has had sleepless nights in her efforts to restore commercial activities in the local government headquarters. He said Afemai line will test run their operation in Agenebode any moment from now and phone numbers of their online bookings will be made available to enable people to call and book ahead to enable adequate arrangements.

"The Council Chairman had a fruitful meeting with operators of the Afemai line transport company represented by Mr. Obed Dokpesi who promised to review the request of the Council Chairman in line with their organization's operational policy for the immediate commencement of the transportation arrangement. The Afemail line representative described the efforts of Hon. Princess Benedicta as commendable saying they are willing to partner with her in building the transportation sector of the Council."

Speaking further, Mr. Obed Dokpesi expressed fear over the availability of passengers which he said may hinder smooth takeoff. However, the Council Chairman who was visibly passionate about her mission, dismissed the fears of the Afemai line saying she would deploy local town criers and announcers across the local government to scale up awareness that the people can now access various parts of the country directly from Agenebode motor park at a cheaper cost without going to Auchi to secure vehicles.

The Chief Press Secretary in his statement, also revealed that the Chairman has thrown an open invitation to all other transportation companies to come to Etsako East as the re-opening of the College of Agriculture in Agenebode soon will increase the inflow of human traffic from across the country. There is a huge market for transportation companies even those going to Kogi State Polytechnic passes through the Agenebode River which makes our local government headquarters a virgin land for investors to explore.

On the rationale behind the action of the Local Government chairman in throwing an open invitation to other transportation companies to invest in Etsako East, the statement said Hon. (Princess) Attoh believes that public-private partnership is the way to go to optimum benefits for the people and block financial leakages to make government accountable and transparent in all its dealings the statement added.
