Certain words, when spoken, elicit images in our minds. And one of such words is "The Anointing."

I remember growing up, I had, and still have till this day, vivid imagination of things I’ve read, seen and heard. I remember reading the story of Elijah being caught up by a chariot of fire. After I’d read that, I began seeing chariots in the sky. During play time I’ll sit alone with my eyes fixed on the clear blue sky, I will see, in my imagination, smoke-like white horses roaming the sky. In another time, I remember seeing, for the first time, a cartoon of a unicorn: suddenly, every bush I turned and look, my imagination conjured up a beautiful unicorn in a forest. My imagination was so kin and vivid that I nearly always have a picture of everything I read, see and hear.

When we hear the word the anointing, more often than not, our minds tend to picture a bottle of oil being poured upon and running down the head of a man. I remember one time I was in a fellowship meeting and the presider asked the question: what is the anointing? Now in that meeting were older men and women as well as we young men and ladies and several children.

When that question was asked, for some few seconds, nobody among the adult and we young folks said anything, but a little boy around 9 or 10 years of age stood up and said, “The anointing is the bottle of oil.” Well, everybody laughed, mused and ponder at the answer the little boy gave until the right answer was given.

Like that little boy, if you've ever had the idea vivid in your mind that the anointing is the bottle of oil, you're not alone, we are on the same boat. May I reassert that those who had had this picture lucid in their minds are not far from the truth. However, the reality is that the anointing is the Spirit of God. This anointing sometimes, as the Spirit wills, might be tangible upon the carrier, a person or a congregation. And sometimes may be upon the carrier unnoticed.

Having understood what the anointing is, the question is: how can I activate it? How can I get it to work for me?
The answers to those questions are littered in the Bible from the Old Testament to the New. However, let us consider the New Testament.

In Mark chapter five the twenty-fifth through the thirty-fourth verses is a story of a woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years; and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.
That woman heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and say to herself: 'If I may touch but his clothes I shall be whole.' And when she did as she'd said, the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed.

The Lord Jesus, knowing that power had gone out of him, said, who touched my clothes. When the woman narrated her story to Jesus, he said to her: Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole.

You see, the Lord Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and healing power without measure. But of all the people who touched his clothes, only that woman, which had the issue of blood was healed. How did she activate the healing anointing for her healing? The Bible said, first, she heard of Jesus. Remember, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Second, she said to herself, if I may touch his clothes I shall be whole. She was positive definite in professing what she'd heard about Jesus to herself. I believe she must have heard Jesus say, "I'm anointed to preach, to heal, to set at liberty the captives, to open the eyes of the blind."

That woman activated the anointing, which led to her healing, by hearing the word and professing to herself what the word say he could do.

Now how can you apply this to your own life? Say for instance, you are weak and without strength. In order to activate the anointing for strength, first you have to hear what the word say about strength, and when you have done that, you must say what the word say about strength. For example, the word say, "... Let the weak say, I am strong" (Joel 3:10). And the word also say, "... The Lord is the strength of my life..." (Psalms 27:1). So having heard what the word say, all that is required of you is simple obedience. How you feel, notwithstanding, you must say to your body, I am strong, for the Lord is the strength of my life.

You need not see any sign to before you could say this to your own body. While you're still weak, you must say you are strong, for the Lord is the strength of your life. And this confession in your lips, the Lord will honour. Because He confirms his word.

□ Jesus Christ was not anointed with the Holy Spirit. Rather, the Holy Spirit — the Spirit of Truth— is a part and parcel of the being that is Jesus Christ and He told you this in John 14 vs 6.
□ This tale of yours is about how the woman with the issue of blood supposedly activated a non-existent anointing on Jesus Christ, how does it work as far as the man who was born blind and was healed by Jesus Christ? The man had no clue what even healed Him and had no belief of any kind to speak of. Notice how this tale of yours fails when put up against that man's story and that of so many others who didn't even believe or expect to be healed but were healed nonetheless?

Yes, obedience is the key to receiving from God in the Kingdom of God, but it has nothing to do with these fantastical tales about anointings or the activating of such phantom ideas. There are no anointings in Jesus Christ, and those who seek only healing are not first required to believe or have faith or activate some phantom idea called anointings. Rather, they are simply to come and receive while the followers of Jesus Christ are in turn commanded to give freely even as they have been freely given.

Firstly, I'd like to appreciate you for the time spent reading my recent post on "How to activate the anointing."

Secondly, you said the Lord Jesus was not anointed with the Holy Ghost; and that the Spirit is part and parcel of his being.

Well, I believe you can read. The Bible teaches in Act 10:38, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with Power..."
Also, in John's gospel 3:34 the Bible says, "For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him."
Notice the word "giveth" in the last clause of that text, "... For God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." In other words, the Spirit was given unto him.
More so, in Luke's gospel 4:18, Jesus himself said: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me..." Did you notice the phrase, "... Because he hath anointed me."

Further more, in Matthew 3:16 the Bible teaches that "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him."

The Bible says, in the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. Here are your witnesses that Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost, Luke, John and Matthew.

Now concerning the man who was born blind and later was healed. This blind man's faith made him whole. His faith activated the anointing, which led to his healing.
Let us analyze his healing. In John 9:1 the Bible teaches that "And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from birth." in verse 7, the Lord Jesus said unto the blind man, "... Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing."

Now in my post I said, In order to activate the anointing, first you have to hear what the word say about your situation, and when you have done that, you must say or act what the word say about your situation.
In the case of that blind man, he heard what Jesus said about his situation (Go, wash in the pool of Siloam...), and after he'd heard that, he acted accordingly on what Jesus, the word, said; and he was healed.

You see, faith is released by words or action. It is either you say it or you act it. Small wonder that, Paul in Romans 10:8 espoused "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: the word of faith, which we preach." And James 2:17 says, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."

Faith is released by saying it or acting it, having heard it. It's by saying or acting your faith that activates the anointing.

QUESTIONS:
□ When was Jesus Christ "anointed" with the Holy Spirit and with power? Was it
a: Before He was even born on this earth
b: When He was a kid
c. When He was baptized and began His mission on earth.

□ When was it that God gave Jesus Christ His Spirit transforming Him from one who didn't have the Holy Ghost and Power — pre-anointing —, to one who has the Holy Ghost and Power?

□ Interesting claim you make there regarding the baptism of Jesus Christ. So, what you are saying is that Jesus Christ was an ordinary man like any other man until the moment He was baptized? You want us to believe that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, told you that Jesus Christ was without the Holy Ghost and Power of God until after He was baptized and then anointed by God on the day He was baptized?

So, basically, what you want us to believe is that Jesus Christ was not in fact a Son of God when He was born and He was not God's Eternal Life, and God's Truth, until after He was baptized by John... that was when, according to you, He become the Son of God and Messiah?

1. You seem to be changing your tune here since I didn't ask you about faith but how the theory you concocted in the case of the woman with the issue of blood regarding activation of so-called anointing would apply in the case of the blind man who had no belief in Jesus Christ but only did what a stranger asked him to.

2. I am afraid what you state there in bold are also lies! This is because faith simply implies the living of one's life in continuous submission and obedience to God's teachings and commandments aka His Law. It was through faith that Abraham was justified by God as stated by God Himself in Genesis 26 vs 4-6. And it is the one and only definition of Faith that applies as far as God's Truth. All other ideas are of the imagination of men.

And those two verses you quoted, you quoted out of context since they do not apply as far as this conversation is concerned. If only you understood Jesus Christ, then you would understand well what those two were saying in those passages you lifted out of context.

3. I will pass since I loathe the religion of men which only seeks to blind others by hiding lies behind the many mentions of the name of God.

1. You didn't answer the question. According to the Scripture, and this from all 4 Gospels which you claim as your witnesses, Jesus Christ already had, as a part of His being, the Spirit of Life(grace) and Spirit of Truth --- the Holy Spirit of the Old Law and the New Covenant since He was even in the womb. But here you are waiting us to believe instead that what happened at His Baptism was that He acquired the same Holy Spirits or at least one of them ? Are you for real?

I'd begin by quoting your earliest opening remarks, when said: " You didn't answer the question. In the above statement, you state that Christ was anointed from the womb. Now it would be wise if you could give chapters and verses to buttress and establish your assertions here.

You see, if Christ was anointed from His mother's womb then the Bible lied in Luke 3:22, Luke 4:14, Luke 4:18, Matthew 3:16, John 1:32-33. But praise be to God the scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35). The Bible says, ... Let God be true, but every man a liar... (Romans 3:4)

Let us analyze the above scriptural references, which prove that Jesus was anointed, not from the womb as presumed by you, when He was baptized by John.

Luke 3:21-22
21. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 4:14
14. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Noticed that verse says, "... Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit" When did you suggest that that power of the Spirit came upon him? Read twenty-first verse of the first text; it says, Jesus also being baptized... the Holy Ghost, the anointing, descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him.

John 1:32-33
32. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.


Now if the Lord Jesus was anointed from the womb, how come John declared: ... He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost."

Notice John said, "He (God) that sent me.." Does it mean God was not informed that Jesus was already anointed from the womb, that He told John to watch upon whom the Spirit will descend upon? No. Therefore, Jesus couldn't be anointed from the womb, because if he was, how come the Spirit came upon him during His baptism?

Besides, the Bible teaches that Jesus came into this world in the form of a man. No man on Earth, except "John the Baptist" who was to baptize Jesus," was either baptized or anointed from the womb (Luke 1:15). Jesus was born a divine human being, devoid of the anointing.

Philippians 2:7 (NLT)
7. Instead, he (Jesus) gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being, When he appeared in human form.


You see, the Lord Jesus was just as much the Son of God when He was 2 and 12 years old as he was when He was 30 years old. As a matter of fact, He was just as much the Son of God in His 13th, 20th, 25th, 29th years. Yet in all those years, He wrought no miracle nor healed a person. It was until He was anointed, after His baptism, that He wrought His first miracle at the Wedding in Cana of Galilee (John 2:11).

The anointing is activated by faith. And this faith is released in words and in action. (Romans 10:8; James 2:17). For example, at the wedding in Cana, those servants activated the anointing by action. "His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it" (John 2:5). They did as they were told, and the posts of water became wine.

My question to you Kobojunkiee is this: If you could give two or three witnesses from scripture to buttress your claim that Jesus was anointed with the Spirit from the womb, I will reply your next comment. But if you cannot, then let God, His word, be true, but every man a liar.

The obvious problem here is absolutely none of the verses you continue to quote as witnesses in fact claim that Jesus Christ was "anointed", not according to the Old Law of Moses.

When you read it all together, you realize that you would need to in fact add your own logic between the lines to make it say that Jesus Christ was anointed/possessed/taken over by the Spirit that came down on that very day that He was baptized.

Another giveaway are the claims made by John in the same Chapter of John 1...

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. - John 1 vs 1 - 5

...

16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten [h]Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. - John 1 vs 16-18

....regarding Jesus Christ being the only begotten Son of God and also of Jesus Christ being full of grace(Eternal Life) and Truth.

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the (Spirit of) truth, and the (Spirit of Eternal)life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. - John 14 vs 6

If in fact Jesus Christ had only been imbued with these on the day He was baptized, then surely, all the claims made of Him being the begotten Son of God and being full of Eternal Life(grace) and Truth, even from His birth would amount to lies.

I see the lacuna here. You are waiting for scripture to say Jesus was anointed with oil. You see, in the Old Testament, the anointing oil is a type of the Holy Ghost. People in the Old Testament received the Spirit in types and shadows. Remember, David declares, ... "He hath anointed my head with oil, my cup runneth over." In the New Testament, Jesus espoused, "... If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink." (John 7:37)

You see, Jesus did not receive the anointing in types and shadows but the Spirit himself in a bodily form, like a dove, descended upon him.

Friend, the anointing I'm talking about here is the Spirit of God, which lighted upon Jesus. How do I know this? In Zachariah 4:6 it is written, "... Jesus Christ's statement regarding drinking from Him is in regards to Him being the Fountain of Living Water that those who are weary of the Heavy yoke placed on them by the curse of the Old Fountain of Living Water are invited to drink from - Jeremiah 17:13 & John 4:10

3. That is a lie! God never redefined His anointing which is described in detail in HIs Old Law in the way you assume. So this theory of yours is not of Scripture but of your imagining.

Also, you were not able to furnish those scriptures which proved that Jesus was anointed from the womb.

In addition, Jesus' claim as the begotten Son of God has nothing to do with the anointing. In Philippians 2:7, the Bible teaches that Jesus came to earth as divine human being. But he was without the power to stand in the office of which he ministered until he was anointed. The gospel of Luke said it best, "And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee..." (Luke 4:14).
That text imply he was without the Spirit before his baptism. And it was when he had received that Spirit that he declared in verse 18 of Luke 4. " The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me..."

1. You do realize here and now that you just contradicted your initial argument which was that Jesus Christ was anointed by the Spirit earlier? There was never a point in time that He was not a Son of God aka full of Life(grace) and Truth.

Paul, in the above passage did not state that Jesus Christ ceased in power nor did he, Paul, claim that He, Jesus Christ, was an ordinary human being. Rather, if you pay close attention, you will see instead that what Paul said is that Jesus Christ humbled Himself under God even though He was God. In essence, the Truth and Life of God are ETERNALLY a part of who Jesus Christ was, is, and will always be.

4. Again, the passage says He returned to Galilee with the power of the Spirit does not mean He never had the same power of the Spirit leading Him before this particular point, nor does it state that the power of the Spirit was not with Him when He was a baby or a child.

And the Bible says, that was the first time Jesus manifested forth his glory (the anointing: Paul described this glory, which Jesus manifested forth the first time, as the Spirit, the anointing, in Romans 6:4; Romans 8:11). For before now, Jesus was a divine human being devoid of the power of the Spirit to do miracles. The Bible says, because of the anointing, not because he was a divine human being, but because of the anointing the yoke shall be destroyed (Isiah 10:27).

Friend, Jesus was a divine human being from conception, that I've stated multiple times in my thread. However, it is one thing to be a divine human being and it is another thing to be anointed with the Spirit.
First, now if Jesus had the anointing from the womb, how come God sent forth the Spirit again upon him after he had been baptized. Does God not know he had the Spirit already.

Second, how come Jesus was able to wrought miracles after the Spirit came upon him, and not before His baptism? In John 2:11 the Bible teaches that this beginning of Jesus' miracle and he manifested forth his glory.

Friend, all the four gospels proved,unequivocally, that Jesus, though born a divine human being, received the Spirit, the anointing, when he was baptized of John in Jordan's river.

Let me bring to mind this analogy: in Matthew 28:18 the Lord Jesus, after his resurrection , said, "... All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

Notice Jesus said the power was given unto him. Again notice that Jesus made that statement after he had spoiled principalities and powers and triumph over hell and the grave, and had presented his blood before the Father as an eternal sacrifice; and God exulted him above all names and beings in heaven and in earth.

Now the question is: was Jesus without all power before he made that statement. The answer is in the affirmative, because the Bible says in Philippians 2:7 " He stripped himself of his mighty glory and power, and was made in the likeness of men."

Jesus was born a divine human being, but was devoid of the Spirit of power, the anointing. The Spirit of power, the anointing, came upon Jesus when He was baptized by John in Jordan. Scripture says, "And straightway coming up out of the water, he (John the Baptist) saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descended upon him" (Mark 1:10).

Wherefore John the Baptist declare, saying, "And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost."

Friend, the scripture the lucid as at the time Jesus received the Spirit. But if you, Kobojunkiee, say the Spirit has been with him from the womb, then God lied to John the Baptist when he told him to look out for the one upon whom the Spirit will descend, if such a one had the Spirit already.
