Of course you have this complaint if your technician tells you that your car has legs in need of fixing. Legs.

1. The fault is beyond the mechanic 2. Move your car to another repairer 3. you can only retrieve part of the money you gave him.
The earlier you move the car out the better for both of you. |

chronique: I'm currently in a very bad situation right now with a technician I trusted and relied on.
I met him on Nairaland many years ago and have fixed a few cars requiring minor fixes(legs) with him.
I handed over a client's car to him since January to fix a wiring issue that was draining battery and not making car to start.
For several months, it was all manner of stories and excuses I kept hearing.
I was in the hospital for a month and just straight from the hospital with my surgical stitches fresh on me, I had to get someone to drive me to him as he claimed car was ready for pick up only for me to get there and car wasn't starting and this man disappeared and wouldn't pick my calls all through my time at his workshop.
After over an hr of waiting, I left. Same thing repeated itself another day again. To cut a long story right now, I have suffered serious reputational damage with my client who owns the car as he has totally lost confidence in me.
As I speak, it's 9 months and nothing to show for it. The said technician doesn't even pick my calls when I call him, neither does he bother to return my calls.
I've been calling for over a week now and he completely ignores my call. I'm really at a loss to how to handle this.
In my many years of selling cars, nobody has tried this nonsense with me.
Not even road side mechanics. 9 fucking months and nothing to show for it. I've had several clients wanting to buy the car but have lost every opportunity to sell the said car as it's not been fixed for 9 months.
Pls, I'd really appreciate input from the house.

Maybe na Rewire problem the car get self , not sure it’s a mechanic problem .
Get a good Rewire with a scanner to scan the car , the scanner will detect the fault , the Rewire will fix it and you will be good .
I had similar experience with one idiot mechanic few years back , i spent almost all the 200k loan on the car , he was just using my money to pay for his kids school fee that just resumed school.
Not knowing it was a Rewire problem , when i carry am go Rewire place I no spend reach 20k and d car did not develop fault for almost 2 years . 1 Like 1 Share |

@OP, it is very likely that your car is one of the flooded cars imported to Nigeria by dishonest dealers.
When such cars start having issues, particularly electrical ones caused by salt water infiltration into the car's computer and other critical areas, you may end up spending more than you bargained for before you can repair the car.
I hope the car does not fall in the category of the cars that can not be repaired.
Good luck to you.
Always find a way to do a VIN check before you buy imported vehicles. 2 Likes |

Sorry about your hospital situation but this issue is very simple. Get the car off the place or better still have a competent rewire come check the car at that same workshop, who knows...? He might be able to fix it at once. What type of car is it and why has it stopped starting up? Because initially it was just a battery drain issue. |

OP, Take a towing van to that workshop, but before moving the car, take very detailed pictures of it from the interior to the exterior and bonnet. I know you'll incur extra expenses, but it's a necessary inconvenience. Have another technician attend to it in another workshop. After about a week, pick up the mechanic with Officers of the Mobile Police force and file complaints of missing car parts at their station. Have him detained and insist he must pay for the missing parts before release. All of us know say Police go touch am "small" for that detention. 2 Likes |

If you dont move your car out of his workshop on time, he will start removing parts from your car to fix other people's car. If he doesn't remove parts from it, his colleagues who have seen your car stranded with him for so long will secretly be harvesting parts from your car to fix others.
