Kaduna Tribunal: If You Win Propaganda Battles, You Will End Up Nothing - Uba Sa by nairalandkachy1: 8:46am On Sep 29, 2023 |
The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has stated that he won’t engage in propaganda due to his history as a civil rights activist and his efforts in supporting the rule of law and democracy in Nigeria. The Kaduna State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal confirmed the victory of Governor Uba Sani from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has rejected the petition submitted by Isah Ashiru Kudan, the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Thursday, Sani emphasised his unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of the rule of law and expressed his refusal to participate in spreading misinformation, distancing himself from those engaged in propagandising the public. According to him, there are two battles when entering an election, including a political battle and a propaganda battle. He said, “Many politicians believe in winning propaganda battles. It always confuses the public, but at the end of the day, you will end up with nothing. “That is my advice to politicians. “We listened to the ruling by the judge, and I can say here clearly that we shouldn’t be joining propaganda because the ruling is clear.” He mentioned that in the event of a verdict against you in a tribunal, as a politician, your initial consideration should be whether to pursue a legal appeal or not. However, openly criticising the judicial system, pointing fingers at INEC, or assigning blame to everyone but yourself unmistakably demonstrates a lack of commitment to democratic principles. He mentioned that while no democratic system is flawless, his main concern is politicians who emerge to deceive or provide false information to their supporters. “I believe that we have to continue to improve this democracy,” he stated. Sani encouraged his former adversary to seek recourse in the court of appeal if he had any concerns about the judgement, emphasising that we are operating within a democratic context. He also stated that, “If he doesn’t approach the court of appeal, I think I will certainly welcome him to come and work with me, because for me, it’s about Kaduna.” Although pleased with the tribunal’s result, he encouraged his supporters to unite and collaborate with everyone to ensure the prosperity of Kaduna. “The key is what we can do for Kaduna state to move the state forward at the moment,” he said.[/quote] nlfpmod mynd44 |
