Nigeria’s Economy Filled With Opportunities, Prospects — Presidential Aide by OlabisiiJ: 9:45am On Sep 29, 2023
The Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, Dr Tope Fasua, has said there is need to look inward to grow Nigeria’s economy.

Fasua said this yesterday in Abuja on the sidelines of his 52nd Birthday celebration and the launching of his five latest books.

He expressed optimism that under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, the country’s economy would be better.

The presidential aide said: “I don't even see the problem with Nigeria's economy, I only see opportunities and prospects and like I always said this economy hasn't even started; one day it will and very soon, hopefully, under the current administration. We have so many opportunities, that's why many times foreigners come here and they don't want to go back to their countries.

“Usually, unfortunately, it is we that don't appreciate what we have but that is expected. It’s said that ‘the prophet has no value in his hometown’. A lot of people who are ‘japaing’ now will have to ‘japa’ back at some point in time.

“We are the ones that have to build our country. In the US they build their country, sometimes they tell you ‘go back to your country, our ancestors built this place’”.

Director General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dasuki Arabi, said measures to reduce the country’s dependence on imports should be encouraged.
