Mohbad's Death: Are We Really Children Of God? by Luckysbab: 3:11pm On Sep 29, 2023 |
Permit me to say this post isn't intended to stir up controversy or needless squabbles; it's just a follow up on a friendly debate I had with a mate couple of years back. As a Christian, he was curious to know why we Muslims rather chose (important to say it wasn't for us to choose, rather a default mode) to "relegate" ourselves to the position of "slaves" of God. After all, his own faith proposes humans are "Children" of God Of course scripturally, Allah refers to us as: "Oh my servants..." (Qur'an 39, Surah Az Zumar vs 53), "And the Servants of the Most Merciful..." (Qur'an 25, Surah Al Furqan vs 63). This is established. But breaking further down to the human logic, I argued that a son is allowed to have a his say and sometimes his way before his father. While a servants thoughts, feelings, emotions don't even count in the decision of his affairs. Of course, he can frown, laugh, cry over a situation, and that's about it. Relating it to the Mohbad situation, the Master has determined him to pass away. Everyone can question why "he had to die prematurely" or why "his glory was cut short". Hearts can ache and eyes shed tears, but that's it - the Master's decision to terminate his sojourn is absolute and not changing. You can relate it to many other death of a loved one/celebrity/religious figure "in their prime". Think about the "undeserved failure" in that project/marriage or whatever. You eventually have to resign to fate. No amount of your will changed anything or prevented it from happening the next time and after that. So yes, God decides for us as his servants, beloved or not. We simply accept and hope for better (in our own understanding). Does it then mean God is unfair to us? Hmmmm... NO. It's just us being limited to see only what is obvious. Allah says in Qur'an 2, Surah Al Baqarah vs 216: "...“But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.” To close, check out the story of Musa and Khidr Qur'an 18, Surah Am Kahf vs 60-82. It will help understand that there's usually more to the apparent. And Allah Knows best. May God console the grieving hearts. 1 Like |

The term " slave of Allah " is only misconstrued by us because of how we see and treat slaves. In the sight of Allah it is submission, obedient and Love of Allah. It is not a degrading word in our own sense. Allah says in Surah Maryam 'whatever is between the heavens and the earth must come to him as a slave and Allah loves all his slaves. Becos He is Eternal (Al samad) and not needing anything from his creations and his creations needs and depends on him, So we are his slaves. On the human logic and children of God... The word 'children of God' is a good word, metaphorically we are his children (the good and the bad) but the christians have misconstrued another meaning to this word. Hence the word is eschewed in Islam, same as Father. Whether slave or children of God. Both of Dem have the will to disobey Allah. But Allah loves those who turn in repentance. Because Allah is All knowing and All wise, he gave his slaves and servants good instructions and not what will harm them. If they do otherwise they enter into wrongs their selves. So as a servant "we listen, we hear and we obey" Allah will not prescribe something wrong and harmful for his followers and slaves 1 Like |
