What is the Master Card Foundation scholarships about?

It is a scholarships offer which is opened to Africa students who must not only be talented but have that leadership initiatives in them.

It is actually for those young men and women who are committed to giving back what they possesses to their local communities.

These young people can give back their skills as well as mindsets. Master card  foundation program give these young minds the push they need so that that can equally enrich their local communities and towns.

This is a huge offer as it goes beyond a normal scholarships. The Master Card Foundation program as it is called include mentoring, developing their leadership potentials and providing opportunities for Internships.

Other packages of the Master Foundation scholarships program include tutoring, as well as covering tuition and basic expenses that the student will need to live comfortably as they study.

This Pan- African scholarship program runs in over 40 Universities  with the goal of empowering the ecosystem in higher education.

This, they achieve through research, learning along with their stakeholders.

The Master Card Foundation scholarships program has supported more than 40,000 African young people whom they described as "transformed leaders".


The aim of this Pan-African network is to get as many as 60,000 more scholarships by 2030. This they hope to achieve, by their partnerships with Universities and other stakeholders.

Who qualifies to apply for a Master Card Foundation scholarships?

To qualify, you must first be an African national and young person for that matter.

You must also be someone who is committed  and have a good academic background and must have that ambition that exceed your financial standing.

They specifically look at women, refugees or those who are internally displaced  by other factors.

Those with disabilities will equally  be considered in addition to people living in what they called "marginalized communities".

There are age barriers that one need to take note of before applying.

If you are applying for an undergraduate degree program, then you must be 29 years or younger at the time of application.

Those who want to apply for the Master Card Foundation scholarships under the Master's degree program, then you must be 35 years or younger at the time of your application.

As indicated earlier, the applicant should be strong academically and must also meet the eligibility criteria for the Institution he/she is applying for.

Master Card advises applicant to look into the Institution they want to apply for  and learn more about their criteria and deadline.

You can apply for more Institutions and there is no limit, but you are advised that it takes more effort to apply.

You are also reminded that some Universities request for applicants to meet language  specifications using tests like SAT, TOEFL, IELTS and many more.
