Prof. Patrick Lumumba, a popular Kenyan lawyer and activist, says the new wave of emigration of African talents abroad is modern-day slavery.

He stated that although the colonialists left Africa decades ago they are still indirectly exploiting Africa.

Lumumba who was the former head of the Kenyan anti-corruption agency was one of the speakers at this year’s edition of The Platform, an Independence Day Anniversary event organised in Lagos by Pastor Poju Oyemade’s The Covenant Nation.

Mr. Lumumba's a bit off his rocker if he thinks that emigration is the same as slavery, innit? I mean, come on guv! These people are leaving their homes in search of a better life, and that's their right!

We can't ignore the difficult conditions that many people are facing in Africa, but we also can't deny their agency or the benefits that emigration can bring. So, put a sock in it and quit whining, Mr. Lumumba!
