Urchinns say their first-class accountant president will build Nigeria the way he singlehandedly built Lagos from a forest to a city.

Are you a Malou or blinded with hatred ?
When Buhari came on board he gave governors bail out funds to pay workers under GEJ’s tenure that you guys said the economy was booming .
Instead of you to start putting pressure on your governors to be productive your early morning obsession is Tinubu if you continue like this for the next 8 you might be roaming on the streets.

But they can't keep quiet. That's the job of the media...to liberate people from being myopic. When the government does good too, they always report it. You don't expect the media to report only what suits you all the time. They'd be biased in this case. If the news is fake, the onus is on the government to deny it.

Apc has finally killed this country. Why will the political class not consider halving their salaries and allowances? Is it only the citizens that will continue to sacrifice while they continue to smile to the banks?

Why are you amazed? It was the bail out CBN borrowed the states through commercial banks for salary bailout with 2% interest rate and 20 years refund period. It is even stated in the writeup. Read again

If money is being borrowed to pay salaries, it' means the ministries made NO revenue!

....also the money borrowed, did they actually pay the salaries.
SOMETIMES ITS MORE OF A REGRET BEING NIGERIAN.

But folks were celebrating recently that States were getting record amounts of allocation due to the subsidy removal.
You just don't know what to believe anymore in this country.

Governance in Nigeria is so opaque.
In other climes citizens know exactly where government finances are at any time T, and almost to the dollar.

Here these folks just spend as they wish without real-time accountability, sometimes the details of which are known only to the leader and his inner circle.

Here they borrow and spend without oversight, monies that are not theirs but with serious implications on the economy of the people of their domains. Here they speak up only after the fact or hardly at all....kai.

Truth is, most states, and our government are broke because they all rely on oil money.

Alternatives now are that the states get most of their people to pay taxes at something like 40% of the annual income or more. The problem is, most Nigerians are poor, so taxes that heavy would only end up making them more angry

So, we pracitice socialism....we borrow money for welfare. Which a host of countries did and which many of them eventually collapsed because it cost too much.

Nigeria needs to remove subsides, industrialize, and work hard towards improving tax uptake, or we are going to keep on borrowing.

What do you prefer?!! They should paint the nation white while things badly deteriorate?!!

They should shamelessly lie and release propaganda like your elected leaders?!!

All the lies and propaganda Buhari dished out for 8 years, where have they led the nation?!!

You are still missing the point all these while...!

The time to have done that should have been at least 4 years ago when things were not this bad economically.

What exactly do you want to tax?!! Who exactly do you want to extract such taxes from?!! The over 100 Million poor?!!

How do you generate such massive tax returns from the Poverty Capital of the universe?!!

When these same imbeciles in power abused and pushed against GEJ in 2012, someone should have told them that the foundation they laid would meet them down the road.

Answer...we borrow, and keep on borrowing.

Like I said, you guys should stop complaining about government borrowing. It's a fallout of having a one trick pony economy. And yes, I blame APC for it, I blame Buhari for not taking certian decsions 8 years ago, but at the end of the day, we need money

And since we are all poor......and since we cannot magically spring money from anywhere (and recovering loot takes a lotta time)....borrow.

Resurgent2016:
but they said after subsidy removal, FG and state would save trillions to spend?

What are they doing with savings from subsidy removal?

even with that, the so many redundant States in Nigeria have more than they can cater at their disposal......the generated funds can still not fund their expenses,a s such they need to keep borrowing. That is what happens if States rely on on Fed Allocation, Nigeria has only about 5 States that can fund itself.
Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Kano, and probably FCT and Imo, the rest are noise makers worth only to be a local govt.

Recently, states published their Q1 budget performance reports. With four quarters in a year, it is presumed that states should have generated one-quarter (25%) of their projected revenue in each quarter. However, from the available data, a number of states fell short of that 25% revenue projection for the first quarter.

Some other states, however, hit over the 25% target.

For instance, as of the end of Q1 2023, data showed that Kwara State had generated 45.03% of its N41.04 billion IGR for the year. Delta State also generated over 40% of its projected IGR for 2023.

It is worth stating that the 42.64% IGR performance of Delta State was because revenues were collected from some IGR codes that were not budgeted in the first quarter of the year as explained in the state’s budget implementation report.

Kebbi, Ondo, Kogi, Ekiti, and Gombe generated at least 30% of their IGR at the end of Q1.

Jigawa, Bayelsa, Plateau, and Anambra achieved at least 27%.

Apart from these 11 states, every other state generated below 25% of their IGR at the end of the first quarter of the year.

Be truthful to yourself, that's if you still have conscience in you. Is this how Nigeria ought to be,with the numerous resources God blessed us with? Direct your anger or frustration to our bad leaders, who keep looting the nation dry. Telling the citizens to endure suffering, while they ,friends and family live the best of life.. The media is not the issue, they are doing their job. The leaders should return the money they stole, cut down cost of governance.. Leave oil and use other resources ,like agriculture to generate funds for the nation... Bad government is the problem of Nigeria, not the media.

States governors borrowed ₦45b to embezzled not paying salaries.States have their internally generated revenue that can pay workers and there will be excess change left.I don't believe that states depend solely on abuja allocation to pay workers.

Only APC you blame.

I've been blaming the government like Baba Fela before The old thief OBJ became a civilian president.

They've never ever done well with how they've run the affairs of the country. Every single one of them and those in their cabinet.
