As part of efforts towards attracting foreign investments to Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has wooed German Intervention Development Partners to the state.

While receiving a delegation of German investors led by the Country Representative, Mr. Carl Bruining, in his office, Gov. Ajimobi said that partnering with the German would contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the state.

The governor noted that the decision of his administration to invite the German investors was part of his commitment to enhance the development of the state, in line with his transformational agenda.

“This is in continuation of our efforts at soliciting support from development partners for intervention funds and for assistance and cooperation with the government and people of Oyo State.

“Gladly for us, we have a very important organization which is the German arm of intervention development partners and we are very appreciative of their coming to Oyo State,” he said.

The governor described Oyo State as the intellectual capital of Nigeria and political stronghold of the South West region which, he said, was fertile for investment.

Thereafter, Gov. Ajimobi and the team went for a closed door meeting aimed at fashioning out areas of cooperation on pressing developmental needs of the state.

I really hate articles like this. Sounds so sketchy. What kind of investment will Germans be doing in a place with no electricity? undecided

The investments can come in form of IPPs(Power), PPPs etc. Oyo state is going to need it (the investment) if she wants to join Ogun and Lagos in integral economic projects such as the rail way. The red and blue line are the first lines to be completed. One of them will pass through Ogun state. Other lines are planned to pass through Oyo but Oyo needs to invest in it. Ogun already invested 15% in the project.

Btw, this is just an example where their invest is needed.

They probably need to stop celebrating visits like this on the pages of newspapers. Wait till concrete action is taking place.

It is becoming some sort of useless "status" symbol.
