^^ The writer clearly gave the price in gallons and NOT litres. How many litres make a gallon? Read and understand properly before exposing you ignorance please. By the way compute the number of litres to convince yourself the numbers given are in the ball park.

Any revolution that keep the likes of Ah Harem in the North, yes Tinubu and Buhari in jail or effectively divides this country, count me in. Any other thing is just attempt to change leadership and continue with business as usual. As for me I trust GEJ quiet revolution. I am willing to give him th benefit of the doubt.

Pardon me,but d poster was jumping frm litres to gallon,I guess my math is d one not up to speed.But I wonder y d op deliberately ignored d fact that @ actually 12cents,d cost of fuel in nigeria is one of d lowest,evn amongts oil producing nations & also deliberately choose to cite figures frm countries that will suit d op's motives,bc @ d proposed price ours will stil b comparably fair in price.As I sed,am against fuel subsidy but for d reason that in nigeria it would ultimately make d cartel richer and it won't stop those noble ideals d govt is giving now for its palanned removal

@doctor

What is sold at 12 cents? Is 12 cents not 18 Naira? Where can you buy fuel at that price?

In all of this, perhaps the biggest scandal is that among oil-producing countries in the world, Nigerians pay about the most for petrol. While Nigerians currently pay about $1.64 for fuel per gallon, Venezuelans pay only 18 cents per gallon (meaning a bottle of water is cheaper than a gallon of petrol in the country!), Iranians pay just 37 cents per gallon, war-ravaged Libyans 54 cents, Saudi Arabians 48 cents, Qataris 72 cents, Bahrainis 78 cents, Turkmens (citizens of Turkmenistan) 72 cents, Kuwaitis 87 cents, Omanis $1.17, Yemenis $1.32, etc. Only citizens of the United Arab Emirates pay slightly higher than us for petrol at $1.78 per gallon.

The standard of living in all of these countries is, of course, light-years higher than Nigeria’s. They have better social safety nets for their poor.

I read that government wants to raise the fuel price to 141 naira per litter at the very minimum, which adds up $3.6 per gallon! That would mean that petrol would be cheaper in America and some European countries that don’t export oil than in Nigeria! (Nigerian importers always import the lowest possible quality of fuel to the country).

@doctokwus
@poster,deliberately or inadvertently,u got d maths way wrong& in this objective u want to achieve,u must b seen to b forthright& honest,less no one will distinguish u frm d govt u want them to oppose who are perceived to b full of deceit,corrupt& chief 'concorter' of figures to suit its aims.
1st,a price of litre of fuel in nigeria is N65=45cents,not $1.64;secondly d govt plans to raise it to N150=95cents,not $3.6.
Am fully against subsidy removal simply bc it wud still line d pockets of d same clique of corrupt people,but u must not distort figures in order to achieve your purpose,it doesn't thus differentiate u frm d people u accuse of being corrupt

from the intial post, i was really infuriated until i saw the other post.

from wikipedia
1  gallon = 3.79litres

if a litre is N65 = 45cents

therefore 3.79ltr x 45cents = 170.55cents => $1.70 for 1 gallon?

pls can this be correct?
