In a strong display of solidarity and outrage, prominent stakeholders of Benue State under the umbrella of Benue State Political Stakeholders convened at the Benue Hotel in Makurdi on Tuesday to address recent unwarranted attacks and malicious statements made against Sen. Dr. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria. The press conference, organized on short notice and signed by Shimataver Atedze had condemn the actions of certain individuals attempting to tarnish Akume's reputation and sow discord within the state.

The stakeholders expressed their disappointment at the immature persons who, in their recent press conferences, targeted Sen. Akume, accusing them of baseless claims and attempts to blackmail a highly respected figure. While the stakeholders refrained from attributing these actions to jealousy, they emphasized that the attackers lacked political relevance and were clearly ignorant of the statesmanship and dedication displayed by Sen. Akume.

Addressing the allegations head-on, the stakeholders clarified that Sen. Akume's appointment as SGF was a testament to his qualifications, commitment, and dedication to serving the entire nation, not just Benue State. They firmly debunked the notion that the appointment was influenced by local interests, asserting that the attackers' claims were both naïve and misinformed.

Highlighting Sen. Akume's unwavering dedication to his responsibilities, the stakeholders praised his loyalty, sincerity, and accountability, both in private and public life. They urged the attackers to cease their efforts to damage his reputation and cautioned their sponsors against fostering discord within the state.

The stakeholders called for unity across political lines and emphasized that it was time for governance, urging all parties involved to focus on productive ventures rather than indulging in destructive tactics. They extended their support to Sen. Akume and applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing Akume's merit and appointing him to the prestigious position of SGF.

The stakeholders further implored traditional institutions, the Benue State government, spiritual leaders, and all notable figures to stand against the attacks on Sen. Akume, underscoring their firm resolve to uphold the state's peace and harmony.

Also the stakeholders declared, "Enough is Enough," sending a clear message that they would not tolerate such malicious actions against their esteemed son, Sen. George Akume, any longer.
