In the Torah, the killing of Canaanites is considered a virtue, a good deed that their Israelite God, Yahweh will reward. According to Jewish Scriptures and traditions, there are Mitzvah, translated as Commandments, that a Jew must follow.
"Mitzvah" is also commonly used to refer to a deed performed to fulfill such a commandment. According to religious tradition (Talmud), there are 613 such commandments, although some opinions suggest there may be thousands.

Today's mitzvah will focus on the 187th, which states, "He commanded us to kill the seven nations that dwelled in the Land of Canaan and to destroy them, as they are the root of idolatry and its first base. He says, 'You must surely annihilate them,' and 'You shall not allow any inhabitants of the Seven Nations of Canaan to live.".
These seven Canaanite tribes are the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites (Jerusalem).

Certain verses explicitly encourage and advocate for the killing of Canaanites, and waging war against them is regarded as a mitzvah, a commandment. This commandment is known as "milchemes mitzvah,"/Offensive War, it is explicitly named by Yahweh in Deuteronomy 7:1-2 and Deuteronomy 20:16-18.
1. Not to keep alive any individual of the seven Canaanite nations (Deuteronomy 20:16).
2. To exterminate the seven Canaanite nations from the land of Israel (Deuteronomy 20:17).


Even though the seven Canaanite nations no longer exist, their descendants, which includes the Palestinians, are still present.
The word Palestine derives from Philistia, the name given by Greek writers to the land of the Philistine(Peleshet).
In the Exodus from Egypt, Yahweh promised the Israelites they would take Canaan as their home: “I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run. I will…drive the…Canaanites… out of your way…I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River” (Exodus 23:27-28).


This means that the mitzvah to kill them is still considered valid and mandatory, as it is playing out today just as it did back then.

So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took possession of it and settled there. (Joshua 21:43).
