The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Dino Melaye, has told the people of the state that he will return local government administration to the grassroots immediately he assumes office.

Melaye, who gave this assurance while interacting with Women and Youths elected officials of his party, on Wednesday, in Lokoja, Kogi State, said that is the first method of bringing back development to the people.

According to him, the stripping of the local government property, resources and funds by the government of Governor Yahaya Bello, has subjected the people to a life of poverty.

“This must not be allowed to continue for another third term under Bello. Our people certainly do not deserve their current pains and shame,” he asserted, according to a press statement by his campaign office.

Continuing, he said; “There are many of you seated here who conduct your daily activities at the local government level and will prefer that governments at the state and federal levels allow your businesses and trade to operate effectively at the grassroots.

“I want to promise you, my fellow Kogites, that as Governor of Kogi State, by the special grace of the Almighty God, we are going to return local government administration back to the local governments, Melaye submitted.
