ArcSEMPECJ: The campaign is over, there's a new government with new ideas and policies. If there's anything you think Tinubu should have done that he didn't do you can say it as a good citizen and perhaps the government will listen to a superior argument. |

LikeAking: God bless you sir, this is the major point alot of people don't understand, including those handling the economy. The real causes of free falls of dollar is irrational DEMANDS. Apart from Education, medical and vacations, people now save their money in dollars and subsequently creating artificial scarcity. Solution; create an app or channel where importers, foreign Students and those on vacations will be converting their naira at official rate to carry out international transactions by virtual only. Ban locally use of dollar and do away with Bureau de change. |

ElSudani: Lols , it is too late to start asking citizens to bring suggestions on how the Government of the day will be addressed.... Firstly, Nigeria runs a highly corrupt foundation and the citizens are left to either get it right or remain in penury getting it wrong always.... The time to make it right should have been done during the election but many people were blinded by whatever gives them confidence. The people that decides who rules Nigeria are just few and they take decision not thinking about the masses .... They can even bring you and make you the Governor of their States if they find you worthy to dance to their corrupt mindset.... The election was supposed to be a time the masses could have hijacked and turn around the evil decisions of these few selfish people ..... But the deceit and dollars shared in the campaign was too much to buy the brains of so many citizens ..... Imagine a man who gave NIGERIA a President that failed woefully was supported by many of you to be the President of NIGERIA ? And the same man never for once condemned or corrected the man Oga, I have no idea or advice for this Government.....let them shoe Nigerians Shege for being stupid and fools |

yemmit90:QED they know about this solution, but they won't implement it because they are also benefitting From it. If this solution is adopted, the demand will fall like a pack of cards. Like the way night king and his armies dissolved instantaneously in the last season of game of thrones. |

ElSudani:no he is not and sentiments has made not to see that, firstly at this time he ought to have taken a serious look at the cost of running the government and taken serious steps to drastically reduce it, rather what we see and hear is the opposite. |

ElSudani: Tinubu mistepped big time He shouldn't have removed subsidy immediately It should have been bit by bit That's what Peter Obi said he will do Secondly the forex double window should have been left till he was totally in control of the government It should have been done bit by bit Presently Nigerian Economy is on precipe Dollar today is 1200 naira It's an abomination Infact the present government is not in control of anything We are facing an uncharted waters Nigerians are patient But if this suffering continue People may get tired Buhari as much as we castigated him Understand the Economy so much better than Tinubu That's what this past couple of months have shown We never had it like this as a Nation Even during the military era of SAP It's very scary indeed |

VeeVeeMyLuv: Actually they are bereft of ideas They are confused We are charting a way we have never been before Not even during the military era of SAP was Nigerian Economy this bad And it's a dangerous game those in charge are playing Very dangerous Naira may go totally moribund And we are not even an exporting Nation Look at Japan When Japanese yen fell freely Japan's Saving grace was that it was a high exporting Nation So they managed properly But the scary thing is that Nigeria doesn't export anything This is a huge Economic crisis we are facing right now And those in charge are clueless |

I entered Cotonou yesterday and the rate is N1,000 to 570CFA at the border, the exchanger even boldly said “nobody wants Naira again, e no dey move market”. The statement made me mad and angry at the same time. We are headed for doom if the right thing isn’t done. Nigeria needs to be producing and exporting more than she imports to save us from this disaster. And, the IMF will happily give us loans because them to still chop interest rates (taxpayers monies). All of you that were shouting “Jagaban!”, shey eye 👁 don clear una? |

Former finance minister that did not achieve anythingn noteworthy has no authority to give anybody advice about currency and economy. For me the solution is very simple ; Cease all imports 100%. Use only what we produce and produce what we use. |

The increase demand for dollars to japa and foreign education has also contributed to the Naira fall. We are all complicit but the government that should regulate these things are even clueless and in most cases complicit too Everyone taking turn to mismanage Nigeria. Emilokan!!!! Now you have stolen it but can't manage it Tinubu is worse than Buhari!!! 2 Likes |

Re: Why Naira Is In Free Fall – Olusegun Aganga by Dancebreaker: 12:06pm On Oct 22, 2023 |
seunmsg: The situation is a lot more complex now. We are borrowing too much to service debts. We are even borrowing to finance our huge recurrent expenditure. We are in arrears in dollars that we need to settle firms desiring to take out their profits. These are very poor signs for a country unable to rely on large increases in tax intake such as income tax from millions of new employees annually or increase in millions of high earning companies. Yet demand for expensive imported goods, funding education of relatives and medical care abroad, increase, etc. If FG wants to be honest, we are really in a tight spot. In a country where even a little currency devaluation causes considerable inflation, keeping the Naira relatively stable is imperative. Imagine how inflation will rise around Christmas once again this year. Whether anybody likes or hates Obinomics, it's time for us to realise that we must drastically reduce importation, grow local production and gradually. Govt can subsidise locally produced goods for the time being. |
