I was at the airport departures and I met a custom officer, we had an interesting conversation.

Custom officer: "Where are you going"?

Me: Answering unconsciously "I am going home"

Custom Officer: Looking visibly surprised and shaking her head, "You are a Nigerian and this is your home too"

Me: "Me, when I think of home, what comes to mind is my wife, children, business, and investments"

Later on during the next few hours, I was replaying the conversation in my mind and wondering why the lady was visibly surprised when I told her I was on vacation and going home.

I enjoyed my vacation in Lagos though, great people and a very fun experience I am never going to forget.

Well perhaps she was expecting you'll refer to Nigeria as home

That was what I thought as well. Maybe she was not used to a Nigerian referring to somewhere else as a home.
