*NECO -HOLDING THOUSANDS OF EXAMINERS ON RANSOME BY WITHHOLDING THEIR PAYMENTS*

It is highly appalling how the status-quo of corruption in the Nigerian society is 'fast' and 'furiously' eating too deep into every single sector one could ever think of in Nigeria.

It obviously now seems to everyone out there that corruption has now become a shameless act, and, even a thing of dignity.

We continue asking a pleythoral of questions as to why we should be like this, and none of our questions has received a right answer. Perhaps, this was how the country was made.

A couple of months ago, troupes of examiners were called up for marking at their various marking/co-ordination centres across the country for the June/July 2023 National Examination Council-Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (NECO-SSCE Internal) Marking Exercise.

Therefore, in response to this clarion call, a host of the examiners, most of which are teachers, risked their dear lives, transporting themselves -some for several days to the marking centers, leaving their jobs, children and family behind and all the likes just to take up the gauntlet by participating in the marking process without minding all its rigours and stress, thinking that it is an honourable call to service for one's father land after all.

However, after discharging their duties, these examiners had to wait for the payment of their stipends for months, which they patiently did, as that is allegedly the culture of NECO. But just recently, -about four weeks ago, it was confirmed that the examination body has paid few of the examiners and refused to pay the rest of them for a reason only God knows.

Thus, this cannot leave one without a question. "Why should everything Nigerian be like this?"
