Hope For Redemption: Should Sen. Hope Get A Second Shot? by News1234: 12:00pm On Nov 09, 2023
ust by the corner, a stone throw, not too long a time, Imolites would go out to elect a new governor or re-elect the incumbent.

For three years and some months Imo State has been a very interesting soap opera, with many episodes, speaking truth to the realities of their political journey.

To Sen. Hope Uzodima, the circumstances that surrounded his emergence didn’t in anyway help matters. It was rather a case of seeing one from dirty glass, however good or bad one would always appear dirty.

Is Hope really dirty? Is he evil? Is he really responsible for all the killings in Imo state? Is it true that under his watch Imo state has experienced the worse period of democracy? What are his scorecards that proved or disapprove all these ?

I am privileged to belong to many platforms where on daily basis Imo state’s socio political discussions happen. Some of such platforms emit energy, so negative one wouldn’t have any doubt to believe the evil machinations and orchestration of Sen . Hope . A day on those platforms paints a vivid image of Imo State being a war spoils state, balcanized, leaving the poor masses with hopelessness in a state ruled and oversee by Hope. It sounds ridiculous and quite pitable.

In other platforms the stories appear very friendly to the Executive Governor, beaming lights of Hope, success and progress on his administration.

In one breath pictures of all the bad and unpassable roads in the state flood the social media space. In another breath beautiful and and amazing pictures of quality roads done by his administration stare at one.

Who is Sen. Hope really? A fraudster? A serial killer? a supreme Court Governor? A governor that has no interest in the welfare of workers and pensioners? Is that who he is or perceived to be? Or is he that Governor with a progressive mind, poised to see Imolites enjoy the dividend of democracy? Is he that “Onwa Oyoko”, that not only desire but strives to make Imo State the safest place in the region? It seems to me, rightly so that Sen Hope could be that Elephant with different impressions in the minds of the blind. Different strokes for different folks?

No doubt there are people whose lifting today were as a result of Hope’s administration. Same way many slided into the hole of obscurity because of same administration. In this kind of scenario the shout that will be echoing in the state would be Go! Hope! Go!Hope! Come hope! Come!! Come hope!!. Die Hope! Live Hope!! Killer Hope! Savior Hope!!

This is the intersting cacophony we are hearing today. Each group is sincerely expressing their feelings and reality, any effort to gag, victimise and shut each of these groups from venting their joy or ugly reality would be undemocratic.

Let the Gold glints, let the diamond glow, let the breeze of hope and progress be such that everyone irrespective of political persuasion would embrace and savor.

I guess we are not getting such harmony and wouldn’t get it anyway. Interest is key, once ones Interest is not guaranteed, however amazing and beautiful governance is, those who feel alienated would always complain.

What would one possibly expect Sen.Hope to do while presenting himself for a second term? Make more promises? Or show the cards of his stewardship for assessment? I think he wouldn’t need to entice Imolites with more juicey promises. They have eyes and could see clearly. Four years almost gone what did he do within those years would be enough campaign materials, except those years were years of locusts and cankerworms. “Ukwa achi na aka anaghi eji eyo ele ya”( crystal clear things can’t be disputed)

Anyway, the game is up, the die is cast and the time for decision is here for Imolites. Just like Joshua, choose on the 11th of November who to vote, as for me and my household we have chosen that man who will bring peace to the land, create enabling environment for sustainable development, ensure the safety of life and properties, weed Imo State off Criminals and criminality. If you want peace, vote wisely looking at the indicators around. “Uzo ma mma, aga ya ugboro abuo” judge for yourself if this road we all standing on today and for the past three years and some months worths plying a second time.

Let your conscience be the supreme judge .

Imo will rise again! Higher than it is presently.
