Law makers of the Lagos "Green Chamber" have (on November 8 2023) began to push the motion to criminalize the act of street begging in the state.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa embraced the idea, stating that street begging in the state is a growing menace that needs to really be put into check.

Lagos being a commercial capital, you'd often see street beggars in almost every busy area often causing some sort of distraction.

If this bill is passed into law, which would mean that it'll automatically restrict these beggars from openly indulging in the act, it'll also criminalize the act of offering beggars alms, meaning you could be penalized for trying to give to beggars, which would seem like you're trying to act.

However, the question we're asking is, is the government also making provisions to prevent the outbreak or increase in criminal activities as a result of this law?
