The Erin-ile Students Association (ESA) has dedicated its 2023 inter-school spelling bee competition to the memory of late monarch Elerin of Erin-Ile, His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Ibrahim MFR, Olusookun II.
According to the President of ESA, Comrade Popoola Ganiyu Oyedele, the competition fulfilled the Association's expectations as the occasion was graced by dignitaries, stakeholders, students, and others from other walks of life.
He also disclosed that the grand finale of the programme is scheduled for November 23rd, 2023 at the Erin-Ile Townhall.
The President also urged all stakeholders at all levels in the country to recognize the importance of every child and issues that affect their wellbeing.
The President also stated that the Spelling Bee competition is an effort made to widen the students' knowledge as well as develop their critical thinking and communication skills.
Participants at the programme observed a minute silence for late monarch Elerin of Erin-Ile, His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Ibrahim MFR, Olusookun II, former presidents of the association, (Barr) Moses Ibiyemi and Hon Gabriel Odogun, 1979 and 1991 respectively.
Comrade Popoola Ganiyu Oyedele said, "the 2023 spelling bee competition is in three categories: primary school, junior secondary school and senior secondary school.
"We have 22 participants in the primary school category, 18 in junior secondary school and 14 in senior secondary school, totalling 54.
"However, only 10 made it to the final stage in the primary school category, same number in junior secondary school and 8 in senior secondary school category."
The President also sought for financial support from well meaning Indigent members of Erin-Ile.
" We humbly crave your indulgence to support this laudable and epoch-making event aimed at raising future intellectuals. For donation and sponsorship, make donations to 1023435646, United Bank For Africa (UBA), account name: Erin-Ile Students Association."
The Association appreciated all headmasters/headmistresses and principals for their support and the students of each school that came for the competition.
"We also appreciate the moderators who has been coordinating the programme, namely, Mr. Wasiu popular as Best Way, Yusuf Yusuf and all corps members ably led by Erin-ile CDS President, Corper Babatunde Shafi.
"We also appreciate the Secretary of Education (Oyun LG), Head of Service (Oyun LG), Moje College of Education's Registrar and Erin-Ile Youth Leader.
We Appreciate the contribution of the Erin-ile CDS President Led by corper BABATUNDE SHAFI and other corper members.
"Lastly, we appreciate the ESA Education Committee and all members of the Association who stood by us to coordinate the programme."
