Really

You mean the govt went to dig and check the foundation of the building

The evil you support might before you. Quit
You don't need to dig. There are several testing methods. Where foundation plans and engineering
designs also submitted before building?
Because the building looks fancy on the outside doesn't mean it's structurally sound? Nicer buildings have collapsed in Lagos.

You do not know more than Lagos state government whose engineers would have tested and accessed the building inside out? All of una go dey speak like illiterates.

There is something called non destructive testing (NDT methods). Look it up or ask a science student around you.

That building was owned by a Yoruba man,

Stop playing politics with everything.

Any small thing Igbo Igbo,

If the building collapses now, you will be the first to blame the government

But how is that building a distressed building? Have you passed Mushin inner streets? The hopeless distressed buildings are still there standing. I dunno what this is. But whatever it is, it's not nice.

It can be carried out before building is demolished.
Non destructive (meaning test can be carried out before destruction).

Lagos State govt should value those properties and pay even if it is just 50% compensation for the owners to relieve them of their loss. Pulling down people's houses without compensation of any sort is a form of wickedness with no human feelings. It's not easy to build house this period especially by people making their money legally. Let's pity people especially when we are making decisions that can affect their livelihood.

The primary responsibility of government is to protect lives, so we can not wait and allow the buildings to collapse and kill people,” he said.

Does this guy know that in other sane Countries, the Government provides social housing.? They don't just kick their people on the streets .

those houses were the controvasial houses built on ikota canal in lekki-ajah axis not ebute meta as this op wanted us to know. I dont know why people like to give false infomation and the mods without verification will allow it to be moved to FP. Someone will be 100s of thousands of miles away from lagos, and will be making fake videos about lagos. This NL deliberatley promote fake news.

Govt won't demolish a building without a reason, i.e land permit or structural approval

If the building is not distressed, let the owner fight it out in court.

You people saying distressed houses are madt. Ogun kee all of una.

Lagos houses that MOSTLY comprises of 100 years old multi-storey buildings that look like something that a little breeze from a new born baby's mouth can blow away are still there without being demolished. Then it's this new magnificient houses in an obviously new neighborhood that APC's government are now calling distressed. Winches and W!zards everywhere.

Nigerians supporting this are pure evul.

After they have finished demolishing it? What proof will the landlord show that his house is sound?
