They have been termed physical miracles and can be scientifically ascertained as such. These women are very much alive today. So, if need be, I am willing to connect them to Doubting Thomases who may wish to corroborate the stories. |

The stories further demonstrate that if we learn anything from corporeal existence, it is that life is more than meets the eye. Our young people in particular need to recognize this truth. We all need to realize that truth is indeed stranger than fiction and only those who know where to look will experience it. An adjunct to this is that the Holy Spirit is the same, whether you're Buddhist, Muslim, Catholic or ECKist. |

Differences exist only in how you go about contacting or tapping from It. Also, it matters how knowledgeable you are about the laws that guide our interactions with the Holy Spirit. This means that our happiness and creativity are enhanced proportionately with our spiritual ability to consciously connect with It. Why? Because our entire existence is predicated on the Holy Spirit. We are all sustained by It, irrespective of our religious leanings. |

By Holy Spirit, I do not mean the Collective Unconscious described by Jung. If anything, it is a state of full consciousness. Jung's personal or Collective Unconscious refers to the "basement" of Spirit, where residual thoughts, emotions, and images are archived. The archive is always accessible to those who wish to tap into it. The supra-conscious level of Spirit is what I call the Holy Spirit. It is a living, self-sustaining, self-determining entity that may be perceived energetically or corporeally. |

THE FIRST IBADAN MIRACLE In 1998, Grace (not her real name), came back into my life after a two-year hiatus. We had come close to getting engaged before the end of our first time together. Now back, there was the hope that things would proceed better than they had ended. But all hopes seemed to vanish when she announced: "I have a medical emergency." Grace's tone betrayed a hidden fear. "What could that be?" I asked, searching her face for clues. "I don't know if I'll ever be able to have a child. I have these fibroid growths. They're getting bigger by the day." "Have you seen the doctors?" I asked. "Yes. They recommended surgery to have them removed." "OK. Does that work? Will it get rid of them permanently?" "Nothing can be guaranteed. The doctors say anything could happen during the operation. I'm scared." |

"Anything like what?" "My womb could be tampered with. In fact, Dr. Daniel says, when they open me up, the best solution might be to remove the whole womb." She gasped, choking up and suppressing tears. I was calm. I had to see things through her eyes. Left to me, having a baby biologically didn't matter. Child adoption is always an option. But I know that most women feel attached to the experience of carrying their own child for nine months. And why not? "In which laboratory did you do the scan?" I was looking for a ray of hope. I knew it was there but hadn't honed into it yet. "UCH, Ibadan," she answered with confidence. They are without any doubt one of the best in the world. Since 1957, the University College Hospital, Ibadan, has been reputed for excellence. One of the first of its kind on the African continent, hosted by the University of Ibadan, the UCH paraded some of the best specialists in the world at the time. Their diagnosis is usually credible. |

"I don't know what to do," she submitted. Looking at her, I knew that statement was a Soul to Soul communication, asking for help from the Holy Spirit. Most times when we're in a quandary, we rarely have the presence of mind to realize that when all the logic and physical resources and knowledge fail, we could surrender our fears and cares to the Higher Power. We're too caught up in the whirlwind of mental permutations to hear the Still Small Voice whispering to us, saying "I am always with you." 1998 was my thirteenth year of continuously singing the HU and I had been relating intimately with the Holy Spirit for a much longer period. During that period, I witnessed hundreds of miracles. That notwithstanding, every new challenge is as challenging as the very first one. Grace was a member of Eckankar, and so was familiar with the HU and the ECK principles. But these factors neither guarantee understanding nor assurance in the face of adversity. Yes, the ECK principles and exercises help us to connect with the Holy Spirit. But the consistent demand of every moment in life is that we summon the courage and discipline to do the needful. |

Personally, I have been a channel for healing in several lifetimes. In one life, I was a Catholic Archbishop, practicing the laying of hands. In another, I was a Sufi, practicing a more complex type of mystical healing. In my immediate past lifetime, I was a businessman, a Yoruba traditional priest, and a Sufi, at the same time. My advanced knowledge of herbal and metaphysical healing helped me in that life. In my current lifetime, before I became a member of Eckankar, I went through a refresher course in all the major healing practices I was engaged in, for the past 10,000 years—gemstone healing, herbal, laying of hands, mind healing, dream healing, transferring of energies through space, and a few others. |

In Eckankar, I learned not to lay hands or heal people without their permission. In fact, I learned to take the higher road spiritually. This involves a total surrender to the Holy Spirit. The Mahanta, the personified Holy Spirit, is the best to go to when you have any issues, be it health, social, or spiritual. The Mahanta appears as the Living ECK Master, the leader of Eckankar. Followers of Christianity sometimes experience him as Christ, Buddhists as Buddha, just as Hindus may see him as Krishna or Rama. He's sometimes called the immortal al-Khdir by the Sufi. In Yoruba mythology, he's known to appear in the form of Orunmila or another Orisa. The whole purpose of "appearing in a familiar guise" is to make communication easy for the human mind. We're more at ease when we relate with something or someone we're familiar with. Otherwise, the Mahanta makes contact with you as pure Light and Sound, the twin elements of the Holy Spirit. |

As a channel for the Holy Spirit, I learned to surrender situations like that of Grace to the Holy Spirit. This practice allows for a quieting of the mind so that Soul can take over. Surrender does not imply passive action though. You must try and do your best. You must explore all orthodox means of healing at your disposal. Surrender allows us to tune in as a channel for Spirit, so we can hear and know the best route to take. When our health is down, Spirit may nudge us to go see a particular doctor, or to explore natural remedies, or other practices, in addition to orthodox medicine. |

While listening to Spirit, I found out that the reason Grace was going through her challenge was so that her faith in the Higher Power could be boosted. I also intuitively perceived that she had to do a 14-day program of intensive HU singing, fruit fasting, and dream healing. After the 14th day, she could go for her appointment at the hospital. |

I helped her sort out the daily routine. "In addition to these," I told her, "you need to write down your inner and outer experiences that have a bearing on your condition. After the 14 days, you will review all you have written. Spirit is always talking to us but we're often too busy in our mind, arguing with ourselves, doubting everything and wishing on ourselves all that we don't like. Through dreams and events that happen during the day, Spirit sneaks in to reveal to us vital nuggets to make our lives easier. If we note them, they can help us a great deal." "I'll do everything you have outlined. After 14 days I will report back," she said in a note of rediscovered confidence and hope. "That's fine. Whatever happens in the Inner, or physically, don't be attached to it. Just have faith that God has your back." |

"Thank you," she said, lifting her head in resoluteness. After 14 days, she gave me a call. "I'm not sure if the situation changed or not. I will be going to see Dr. Daniel next week for the last examination before the surgery." From the other end of the call, I could feel her lack of excitement. Was she feeling the Holy Spirit had failed her? I asked if she would like to share any of her experiences during the 14-day program. "Nothing spectacular," she responded without hesitation. "The only thing I noticed in my dream was that for about four nights in a row, I found myself in a room with a high ceiling—a large room. In the middle was a hospital bed. Four men in white overalls would enter, and then ask me to get into the bed. While on my back, they would surround me." |

"That's interesting," I enthused. Those are healers in the Astral world. "What did they do?" "Nothing. At least I don't remember seeing them do anything except just stare at me." "Did you notice any other thing or person in the room?" I asked, knowing that the Mahanta or another Master was the one who arranged for that "hospital appointment" in the Inner World. These men and women were not ordinary hospital workers. "Nothing, except the lights in the ceiling directly above that bed. They were white but didn't hurt my eyes. Staring at them, I just felt a sense of peace. Then the next thing, I woke up" "That's fine. You can go for the appointment with Dr. Daniel next week. You should not stop doing your regular spiritual exercises and eating those fruits I recommended." |

She went to see the doctor. A week later, I received a call from her. "How did the last scanning go? What happened?" I asked with anticipation. I was emotionally invested in the case. Whatever happened to her would definitely affect me also. "Something strange happened today-o!" she began rather cautiously. "Tell me. I'm all ears." "Dr. Daniel sent me to the lab. He said they needed to see the latest condition of the fibroid, to guide him and his colleagues in planning for the surgery." She paused for a few seconds before continuing. "So, I went for the scan. Afterwards, I took the result back in a sealed envelope to Dr. Daniel's office. He asked me to wait outside, which I did for about 15 minutes, after which he summoned me back in. Now he had all the past six scans on his table, spread out in front of him, side by side. He looked at me and looked at the scans. I wasn't sure what to make of the way he was looking at me. I was perturbed. Has something worse than fibroid been detected? I wondered apprehensively." |
Re: 3 Women, 4 Miracles, 1 Holy Spirit Part 1 by chieveboy(m): 2:58pm On Nov 25, 2023 |
The way she was narrating the incident was increasing my own apprehension. I needed to hurry her up. If something worse had been discovered, then let's get to the matter. My dad would say, "A real man dies only once." Fear and apprehension can make a coward die many times, metaphorically speaking. "So, what did they find?" I prompted. "It's what they didn't find that was bothering him," she replied. "Tell me." The suspense was nerve-wracking. "Dr. Daniel asked me to look at the scans starting from the first one done a year earlier. I saw the fibroid. I checked the next one and the next three after that. The fibroid was getting bigger in size. Then I looked at the one I took two months ago. The fibroid was so large. He now pointed at the one done today. He said, 'Can you see the fibroid?' I looked closely. Something was wrong here. He said, 'Grace, where is the fibroid?' I looked more closely. I raised up the scan as if that would help me see it better." |

"Grace, tell me. What did you see?" I asked apprehensively. "Tosin, I saw nothing. Nothing! The fibroid was gone. Tosin, the fibroid is gone! Completely…" I heaved a sigh of relief. I smiled for the first time since the conversation began. "What do you mean it's gone?" "Exactly that. Dr. Daniel called four other Doctors. I didn't know them. He asked me to wait outside. After they had met and left, he called me back into the office. He looked at me like I was a special person, like an extraterrestrial. 'I don't know what you do or what type of prayers you make. But whatever it is, please never stop. I've never witnessed this kind of miracle in all my years of practicing medicine. Your fibroid didn't just shrink but it completely vanished within weeks, like it was never there in the first place.' Tosin, I was shocked. I was speechless. I am so grateful to the Mahanta. I am more than grateful." |
