From the first 30 minutes of his administration, he hit the ground. The generational fraudulent fuel subsidy is gone forever.

He has assembled the best workmen in the country and continues to secretly consult others who are the best in the country.
Subsidy is gone grin grin grin

“Mr. President promised that very soon the current exorbitant prices of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol would be “greatly reduced,” he added.

Petrol pump price was #187/litre when Tinubu came in, today it sells at almost #700/litre. if paraventure it reduced to #500/litre can that be described as "greatly reduced" The answer is an emphatic No!

The real "greatly reduced" Nigerians are expecting is below #200/litre or better still take it to the price where he met it which is #187/litre

Anything other than the above, Professor Garba Sharubutu, who is claiming to be speaking on behalf of Tinubu might actually be speaking for himself

Right, if he did that, he would be paying something like N500-800 per liter in subsides. Up from around N300 or thereabouts a year ago. That means that the subsides would eat out of the budget so much that everything else would be run by taking more loans in the short term

GEJ removed subsidy because 2011 costs of subsidy were thrice that of 2010. By the time Tinubu and folks like you forced him to bring back fuel to N97 from the N140 it was sensibly at, the cost of subsidy was N2 per liter. In 2015 it hit N50 or thereabouts per liter. Our reserves were shot as a result, and we were borrowing to pay salaries....

That is the same problem we keep having with susbsidy, back when we had working refineries, and back when we did not. Making petrol costs a lot of money. You cannot control the production cost of fuel. That is what your hero GEJ was trying to tell you guys, but you told him to shut up. Now you want Tinubu to tip us over into total bondage of the IMF...on top of the bad things he hast done...loading us up with Buhari who made things worse, and now taking over, and continuing wasting spending...by spending more on subsidy...so that, cheap fuel

Ask Venezuela how much it cost them in keeping fuel at N40 per liter. Loss of refining capcity, and now they can't even supply Cuba with cheap fuel like they used to do, among other things.

Am sure you would abuse me and call me names, but the honest fact is, petrol costs over N1000 to refine, and subsidising it is a fool's errand. The more the price jumps up, the more it gets worse. Tinubu self is doing what you are suggesting...partial subsidy(none in government dare call it that)....and it is leaching money we do not have. You want him to make it worse, because poor have to breathe.

You are surely not an Economist.

The nation's fiscal situation was rejigged such that funds will be legally scooped from the citizens so that government will have enough money to provide basic amenities.

So, even if the price of petrol could not be reversed to about 200 as we all want, the government have already achieved a great milestone which we all expect them to take full advantage of and not siphone the funds agian, making the masses the ultimate users.

Look at how you contradict yourself

And you claim to be an economist

Subsidy hasn't gone totally. The fact is, fuel is still being partially subsidized. We are supposed to be paying at least N900 before we can state that subsidy is gone.

NNPC is still the sole importer of fuel.
