It takes PASSION and strong FAITH for someone to INVENT something if your father invented a chair you can only continue to improve on such invention otherwise you have to invent another thing entirely.
Magic doesn't translate to invention it was strictly for entertainment and nothing more.
I'm not doubting that some inventors employ magical means to achieve their goals but they never started with magic they already had their dreams (inventions) in their brains magic only helped to make them achieve it faster.
