What Has Your Job/career Taken From You? by MyExpression(m): 3:24am On Nov 30, 2023
I was watching a movie (Hooking Up) about a female writer. She is a columnist for a LIFESTYLE magazine/blog
She writes for the Romance/Sex section.

The movie talked about how she had to engage in random sex with multiple people, and indulge in porn addiction, to get her creative juice flowing for inspiration.
That got me thinking...
Some of us have had to make career trade offs, at the risk of our mental health; not just to keep our job, but also to perform and deliver good work.

I don't know if you can relate, or know someone who has been there.
In marketing, Public Speaking, Laborious tasks, even reading, people have been known to take performance enhancement substances.

However, this has been majorly due to pressure of the environment because I believe without the pressure to produce great result- Always; one might just chill, and go at their own pace. Do what they can...learn what they cant...and leave the rest.

But not when you have a timeline to meet, management threatening your job...(NOT your means of livelihood)

To an extent, these things do spur you on the inside to perform better at the given task.
Some athletes take performance enhancing drugs, Artists take to different substances for stage fright, and inspiration et al.

The question then becomes...is it worth it?

It will give you result and money for today...but in the long run, the company/business becomes successful, while you lose yourself in the process.

I have been there.
I probably should have resigned earlier, but I didn't want to resign under pressure.
So I stayed...did my part, wowed them...and resigned a legend.
It was still my brain power, time, energy, and resources that was stretched to get the job done.
Now company is doing well without me, but I am the one living with the consequences of my indulgence to push myself.

Stress builds you, but you see company/organizational stress....run from it.
You are worth more than you are valued.
Go elsewhere, do something else, live healthily.

Life doesn't end in one company...do your future some good.
