He shared on X,
“It’s with complete despondency and unhappiness that I have followed the ongoing demolitions of properties across the country, especially knowing the extra hardship such acts have been heaping on hapless citizens who are already battling with multi-dimensional Poverty.

“What a responsive government should be doing under the current harsh economic conditions in the country is to come up with measures aimed at alleviating the people’s hardships and to carry out measures that will take more people out of poverty.

“Even if there are some violations as the governments are claiming, this critical time is not auspicious for such an exercise knowing the hardship in the land and the consequences it will have on the poor who are struggling to make ends meet with their little resources.

“The poor in our midst who are putting their meager resources are going through very severe financial stress that should not be multiplied further. In some cases, the properties being demolished are the life time savings and retirement abodes of the aged and incapacitated.

“My appeal therefore is for the respective governments involved in this act to consider the hardship in the country and try and put a human face to their actions. While we should enforce sensible regulations, all actions of government must show compassion. -PO.”

No wonder Obi came third in the last election. He lacks sense and doesn't know when not to talk.

When Soludo and Otti were demolishing houses in Anambra and Abia,. respectively, this LP third-placed candidate kept quiet. Dude now found his voice because it concerns the Lagos they have coveteousness for.

How can you say the timing of the demolition is wrong, all in the name of hardship in the land? When hasn't there ever been hardship on Nigeria and in the world? So, because of hardship, illegalities should be permitted? Armed robbery should also be legalized because of hardship, according to Obi with 419 sense.

He even insinuated that Government ought to not have carried out the demolition now, meaning it should have been postponed. This is another reason why he's not fit to rule Nigeria. So, he means government should continue to permit flooding caused by illegal structures encroaching on waterways in Lagos. Doesn't he know that while the canal's route is blocked, its water gets diverted to other communities which gets flooded. This leads to stagnation of water that causes malaria mosquitoes, typhoid, loss of property and dirty environment. These happen while the illegal criminals enjoy their mansions sited on illegal land. Sadly, when there's a flood, the descendants of those so-called mansion owners will mock Lagos.

What Peter Obi wants is a postponement of doomsday. This was the same way he supported Naira Scarcity. Now he's supporting illegality, yet hopes to lead Nigeria someday.

Below is a photo shared by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, showing buildings built to block a canal's passage. During raining season, where do the owners of those buildings expect water to pass through? Definitely, the water will find a channel that will lead it to where irs not supposed to go to, there y causing flooding in other communities. Obi wants such buildings to remain standing, whereas he demolished such buildings when he as the Governor of Anambra State.

He's a clown

When fools and illiterates are in power, this is always the outcome. That act by the fóolish Lagos state government cannot be rationalized or justified, except idiots that will have contrary opinions. Fools are always opportuned to rule Lagos.

No wonder a certificate forger and a drug peddler pocketed the whole state. That's what happens when the majority are illiterates, ironically , they're the ones claiming sophistication, shame!

Obi is a retard. This same Obi destroyed illegal buildings in Anambra state and didn't pay compensation.

When it rains heavily and some part of Lagos state get flooded, idiots from his geopolitical region will mock Lagos state.

Any house without approval should be destroyed, no matter who the owner is.

Nothing can be built on illegality.

Obi is truly dumb. How can you excuse building on canals? What happens when everywhere is flooded resulting in loss of lives and property?
We thank God this man was rejected by Nigerians, he would have kept the fuel subsidy going in a naive attempt at being popular and he would have ruined Nigeria completely.
By the way, when is the auspicious time he was talking about? Does he control the weather as well?

He is. Very dumb. Next prolonged rainy season will start around March-April 2024.

When should a responsible government, serious about the menace of flooding that leads to loss of lives and property, wait till? 2028?

Loser.
Timing is wrong not that the actions wrong but timing. So what time will be right?
Tell your fellow criminals building in wrong places to take the govt to court and come to court with their valid approved plans by Lagos state govt.
I'm sure most of them are like this pandora pathological liar.
They will claim to have valid approved plans but will not be able to show it in a court of law just like this religious fanatical IPOB terrorist claimed that he won an election but couldn't come.to court with prove. He just wants the judges.to believe his story without any evidence backing it up.
Typical victimhood slave mentality.

The problem Nigerians seem to have is simple...we do things the wrong way for years, and then when the government does the right thing, we protest, and complain, and after an initial burst of enthusiasim, the government then gives up, and we go back to doing things the worng way

Then the government starts doing things the wrong way as well, and the cycle continues.

The truth is, at the end of the day, nothing will change.

Call me when we are all ready to make the hard sacrifices for good governance, and yes, that includes Tinubu, Obi and atiku.

You don’t have to comment in all topics

Obi needs to learn this yes he’s trying to stay relevant but not through a such situation or topic

U don’t tell the judge not to pass judgment on a criminal because times are hard or he is the richest man and a philanthropist

No

Personal have choose to be silent on the topic because it’s a very dicey topic, emotional for the people that there houses will be destroyed and when you look at the effects of flooding on the other hand that can even lead to loose of life

Proactive measure is still the best. The govt should find means to proactively prevent people from.building wrecklessly, it should not be a thing of pride to go about demolishing houses, it lacks human face and empathy.

If there are no proactive measure, 20years from now the next govt would still be demolishing houses and the cycle continues. Some people stubbornly break-through law but there are others that genuinely didn't know some of the lands belongs to the govt because there are no notice anywhere for people to see. Some that even go to the govt office to check might still be scammed.

It's not enough top post a picture of a house blocking a canal and use it as an alabi, what about those in Abule Ado, were they also blocking the canal?

Really? I know people locked out of their homes recently due to flooding for close to a week. The ones home could not come out, the ones outside could not come in.

I doubt there is any good time to correct something that is fundamentally wrong.

Exactly

I was with my Yorubas brothers and we were discussing the incident that happening in Lagos and the demolitions.

My guys were biased. I had to clear them that it's not fair.

The hatred is too much. It might affect us in the long run.

They won't come when the person is building but will wait after the building has been built.

The locking of shops and markets was extreme. I do not support evil.
