OPEN MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE YORÙBÁ ELITE BY PROFESSOR BANJI AKINTOYE 29/11/2023

OPEN MESSAGE
TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE YORUBA ELITE
Isokan Yorùbá Foundation TV •
Facebook, November 29, 2023

This is a special message at the beginning of this December 2023 to all members of the elite of the Yoruba people – to the academics, the intelligentsia, the business captains, the professionals, the highly placed religious leaders (Muslims, Christians, Isese), the political leaders, the holders of public offices whether elected or appointed, the traditional Obas and the Chiefs, etc.

The picture of the Yoruba struggle to survive, to free itself, and to go forward to prosper, looks jagged today, and the reason is that the Yoruba elite have kept away from their nation’s struggle and have essentially abandoned their people.

Our Yoruba nation's situation is very similar today to that of the Armenians whom the Turks exterminated in 1915 to 1916 in the largest act of genocide on record in modern history. The killings of the Armenians had started in small waves since the last years of the 19th century, but the Armenian elite, one of the most civilized Christian peoples in Europe, had raised no finger to defend their nation. Some brave Armenians formed radical political parties to demand pro-Armenian reforms, and some even went so far as to talk of self-determination for the Armenians. But, on the whole, the Armenian elite kept to themselves and kept hugging their wealth and pleasures. When some Armenian prophets began to prophesy that the Turks would come and bring death and destruction to the Armenian people, some members of the Armenian elite, rather than rally together to prepare to fight back, packed and migrated to America.

And then, the wholesale killings came, and the Armenian people were defenseless. The Armenian elite (rich businessmen, intelligentsia, high officials of churches, etc) were arrested and forcibly expelled from the capital city. On official orders, masses of Armenians were herded together, slaughtered in their thousands, and forcefully moved in their hundreds of thousands like cattle, driven by armed militiamen, denied food and water, on death marches to the Syrian Desert. Most of the survivors were then exterminated. Hundreds of thousands of surviving women and children were shared among Turkish homes. And more massacres followed in 1916. The killings resulted in near extermination of the Armenian population, and wiped out over 2000 years of Armenian civilization.

Countless Yoruba men and women are prophesying today that the Fulani will come in much larger numbers and much greater strength than before and greatly expand their killings and destruction upon the Yoruba people. And it is quite easy to see the signs of this coming horror. For decades now, the Fulani of all of West and Central Africa, led by the Fulani of Nigeria, have been secretly mobilizing, until they have finally decided that Allah has given them the whole of Nigeria as an exclusive Fulani homeland. For this, they have succeeded in indoctrinating their whole 24 million Fulani population spread out in many countries of West and Central Africa. Their masses have been rolling forth since 2015, killing and destroying. Virtually every non-Fulani nationality in Nigeria, including our Yoruba nation, and including even the Hausa whom we all have hitherto known as the close allies of the Fulani, have been seriously hurt by the Fulani killings, destruction of farms, farmsteads and villages, raping of women, widespread kidnapping, and extortion of large amounts of money as ransom for the kidnapped.

In 2019, President Buhari, during a visit to Egypt, publicly announced that anybody can freely come to Nigeria from any part of Africa without any travel documents. Since then, the Fulani influx into Nigeria from all over West and Central Africa has increased enormously, and all the border gates in Northern Nigeria have accepted them without questions, and have granted them Nigerian citizenship automatically. From there, they have been spreading all over Nigeria. Of course, the Yoruba homeland in the Nigerian Southwest is their choicest target, because that is where most of Nigeria's non-oil wealth belongs.

The mind-boggling trillions of Naira and Dollars which Fulani public officials have stolen from Nigeria under the Buhari presidency have given the Fulani an awesome war chest. Their final and imminent onslaught is sure to be by land and air and with enormous resources.

Even under the Tinubu presidency, the Fulani are showing that they will not give up their war or their goal. Indeed, their spokesmen have said repeatedly from the beginning, without mincing words, that they are resolved to keep fighting their war for as long as they find necessary – for decades or even centuries if necessary - until they fully achieve their goal.

Meanwhile, the devastation and near collapse of Nigeria’s economy, plus President Buhari’s closure of Yorubaland’s borders for years, has brought unimaginable poverty to the lives of nearly all Yoruba people – which means that, when war comes, we Yoruba will lack the strength to resist.

Meanwhile also, the Fulani have been trying hard to introduce to Yorubaland the religious extremism, intolerance and conflicts that characterize the Fulani-controlled provinces of far Northern Nigeria. And the obvious objective is also to weaken Yoruba society. Unfortunately, some of our own Yoruba people, products of our Yoruba culture of religious tolerance and harmony, are showing signs of falling for the trap from the North by thoughtlessly denigrating other Yoruba people’s religions.

Being a Muslim will not protect any Yoruba person in the Fulani war that is coming. It will be a war against all Yoruba people. In fact, since 2015, there have been more Muslims than non-Muslims among the Yoruba people whom the Fulani have killed, maimed or raped; whose farms, farmsteads and villages the Fulani have destroyed. The Fulani war is not a religious war or a war for Islam. It is a Fulani ethnic war. The masses of its foot soldiers - the armed herdsmen and militias, and the masses of youths being brought by trucks and buses to Yoruba cities - are non-Muslims. The purpose of the war is not to promote Islam; it is to take the homelands of Nigerian peoples and turn all into one Fulani homeland. (The Fulani have never had a homeland throughout their entire history; and now, they are determined to use force to take all of Nigeria and make it their homeland). At the height of the war, the Yoruba Muslim elite (imams, rich businessmen, political leaders, high public officials, etc) will be special targets for attack and destruction - to prevent them from arising to claim, as Muslim leaders, the right to share in the leadership of their subjugated Yoruba people.

If any Yoruba persons do not know, or doubt, the above story of the Armenian massacres, they should just pick up their telephones and google “Armenian Genocide during World War 1” or seek for it in Wikipedia.

And then, let us all remember that in recent years, the Nigerian police and customs service have discovered many illegal arms importations to Nigeria, and that, according to the police and customs authorities, most of such illegal arms imports have come from Turkey. Is it then that our Fulani compatriots in Nigeria have been receiving lessons and help from Turkey?

Masses of Yoruba people at home and in the Diaspora have been fighting back. They are confronting the Fulani marauders in the Yoruba farmlands, and some Yoruba heroes have emerged in the fight. They are struggling to the best of their ability to separate their Yoruba nation and homeland from Nigeria - since it is because we Yoruba and the Fulani belong to Nigeria together that the Fulani have the right and the freedom to enter into our homeland at will to kill, to maim, to destroy, to rape, and to kidnap.

The message here to all members of the Yoruba elite is self-evident. We Yoruba thank God for the various successes and attainments of all of you our Yoruba elite. You deserve to hug your academic achievements, your business successes, your professions, your respected positions as religious leaders (Christians, Muslims and Isese), your political eminence, your traditional thrones and chieftaincies, etc. But big trouble has come into the home of your Yoruba nation, and your Yoruba people desperately need you to rouse yourselves, to step bravely forth, and to give of your strength to the defense and liberation of your fatherland. Each of you should patriotically decide what you can contribute to the struggle, and courageously contribute it. You can lose nothing by doing this. By doing it, each of you can gain a great and everlasting name in our nation’s history.
