Privatization: Senate to Prioritize Ethical Standards In Privatization of Enterprises

Distinquished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu former Governor of Abia State (1999-2007) attended the Inauguration of the National Council on Privatisation for the year 2023, held 8th Dec, 2023 at 11 am, in the Vice President's Conference Room, State House, House.

In his capacity as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, the Former Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu opined that the 10th Senate will contribute its constitutional requirements by making laws that will be in tandem with the Executive's privatization policies through proper oversight functions.

He suggested that government has no business doing business. If these companies are properly privatized using the right channels, the government and the people will be the greatest beneficiaries and not a selected few.

The Members of National Council of Privatization and other critical stakeholders will be inducted on Monday, 11th December, 2023.

The initiative is targeted towards enabling of the comprehensive understanding of the functions and mandate of NCP and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) in actualizing the Federal Government's reforms and privatization policies.

The high powered occasion had in attendance, the Vice President of Nigeria 🇳🇬 Kashim Shettima , Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and National Planning and former Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, and other dignitaries that graced the August event.
