The Igbos clamouring for Biafra should be cursing Azikiwe everyday and night. But no, it's the innocent they will be hating.

Had Azikiwe heed to the dangers Pa Awo and Saudauna saw about a multiethnic Nigeria, we won't be in this conundrum. He was blinded by tribal supremacy thinking that other tribes were dumb.

Thunder fire u you idiotic vagabond.

Ok, Azikiwe didn't want any secession.... few months later Ojukwu began talks of secession

What did your skull ⛏️ mining and terrorist grandfathers do in Aburi accord?

Thank you.

Igbos will naturally want to cheat others, then cry victimisation when table turns.

That is one of the hypocrisy of the cannibals from the South East region. When they realised that Azikiwe was given a ceremonial useless presidency position by the north, the soldiers from the Eastern stock struck. The revenge and pogrom followed after. You can't eat your cake and have it.

Zik and other Igbo leaders should have demanded for a separate country for Eastern Nigeria before 1960 when Nigeria achieved her independence but rather they were busy convincing other regions who were sceptical over the whole thing to accept one Nigeria.
Do not blame the British alone. After all they left us with 3 regions were everyone managed their affairs but guess what happened...The rest is now history.

The British should never have brought us together in the first place, it was like bringing oil, water and milk together thinking they will mix. The union of Nigeria has been a disaster

Azikiwe's ceremonial position was as useful as the "p" word in psychology. He was outwitted and outsmarted by the Northern politicians. Prior to the first republic, ibos taught the Hausa/Fulani were dunces. He aligned NCNC with the North thinking it was easier to dominate the North than align with the western region which included Benin and Delta.

You are crying over a spilled milk.
Moreover our fathers once loved the togetherness and even encouraged the mixture of oil and water and helped the British to convince water(Hausa/Fulani) that they can actually mix with oil (Igbo and Yoruba) before independence. Face reality for once.

Na so he pain you reach?

If you like cry today, tomorrow and forever more, it can't change the fact that Nnamdi Azikiwe rejected the inclusion of secession clause being proposed by Obafemi Awolowo in the constitution.

Azikiwe rejected it not once but twice and even reported Awolowo to the colonial authority. And that singular action by Azikiwe made Biafra a mirage.

So guy, channel your bile and curses on Azikiwe. Be truthful to yourself.

Prior to the first republic, ibos taught the Hausa/Fulani were dunces. He aligned NCNC with the North thinking it was easier to dominate the North than align with the western region which included Benin and Delta.
Times when Azikiwe rejected secession

1st was Ahmadu Bello's threatening secession if the North is not given half of the seat when the 1st republic is created. Azikiwe jumped in with argument on why that should not be. He gave a brilliant speech starting from how he was born in Northern Nigeria.

2nd: Awolowo threatened secession if Lagos was not added to the Western region. The colonial masters ruled against Awolowo. Azikiwe and his NCNC who were pushing for no man's land status were happy and gleefully said that Awolowo and his action group were treated in the language they understand.

3. A year later, Awolowo asked again for a secession clause to be added in the constitution. Ahmadu Bello supported Awolowo saying the regions were different people. Awolowo brought about arguments again using USA and USSR as examples of united countries.

4. After the election, their was no majority, Azikiwe told Awolowo and other smaller southern parties that he would work with them to form a government. Awolowo even offered Azikiwe the Prime minister position. Azikiwe did not show up for the agreed meeting point in the mid west region. He instead headed up north to form an alliance with Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello. Kwame Nkwumah of Ghana was even shocked. Azikiwe said he did it for the unity of Nigeria. The above was the first political betrayal recorded in Nigeria.
