No body ever said yorubas wasn't ahead in the 1940s to 60s

The eastern Region projected to catch up with western region by 1970 it accepted it was below western region

There is no shame in starting late
Even in the eastern Region ijaws and efik started before others

Never truly accepted the white man till the 1920s ... We are not ashamed of it

Some few Igbo society have had advanced history but not the whole Igbo land

But we are not ashamed of starting late

Today Igbo are at least as educated as yorubas if not more educated

If you think this is an insult then try again
oga you are not informed, Igbo is the most educated in Nigeria today go check your stats

Thank you for sharing. This is Reno Omokri's latest free education service to those who came to Lagos years later and thought Lagos is for sale. Lagos has never been for sale wink

63 years after, the Yoruba is still the richest, most advanced and the most sophisticated in Nigeria and Africa.

Like the offshoot of the dorminant Yoruba political movement (Egbe Omo Oduduwa/Action Group) that now has a strong political alliance with its then political adversary Northern region, and today has the coveted prize of Nigeria's Presidency, other tribes have made some progress too ,especially in the East where unclothedness has been significantly abolished and North where more female children now has access to western education.

God bless Nigeria for ever. Check my signature for free stuffs!

So it is safe to say all these hate and bad publicity from the Igbos against the Yorubas is out of jealousy.

What do the yorubas produce to have made them the richest tribe? Nothing of great note–just politics, oil from the south south, and fraud through religion, cybercrime, e.tc. You have only benefited unfairly on the back of others. Before independence, it was through the slave trade, which you involved heavily(due to the slave ports in your land). And through religion during colonialism. Post colonialism, aside entertainment that I can give kudos to you, the wealth of the Yoruba are through the criminality of the Nigerian state which you are taking advantage of.

It was selfish interest and greed. He was meant to form a coalition with other southern parties. He thought he could outsmart the Northerners who people believed were backwards and easy to manipulate. He was outsmarted instead and got a ceremonial presidential position while the North got the powerful Prime Minister position. We were running a parliamentary system during that era.

If you read the whole article. I would edit my post and include the link, the Northerners were thought to be primitive. However, the Westerners know that the Northerners were actually very politically smart. They have had relations and businesses with them for centuries. Ilorin fell for that reason about 150 years prior.
It was Awolowo who was selfish and wanted power in the south because he saw the north as uneducated. Zik was a kind man who wanted the north to feel belong and not left out.

Controversial Unification Decree No. 34 was Ironsi's brainchild.Ironsi declared all Nigerians want an end to regionalism.

We all know he meant Igbos not Nigerians. His advisory committee was made up of his kinsmen. He replaced the attorney general with his kinsman too.

Immediately after the speech two Governors kicked against the proposal to break rid the regional system. They were, Major General David Akpode Ejoor from Ovu in the present Delta State, then serving as the Military Governor of the Mid-Western region and Major General Hassan Usman Katsina, who was then serving as Governor of the Northern region.

Lt. Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu , Military Governor of Eastern Region welcomed the decree while Lt. Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi, Military Governor of Western Region never commented on the promulgation of the decree.
This Ironsi is a tribal bigot too. Thanks for this post.

Ibo soldiers majorly planned the coup. Ibos in power escaped or where out of the country when the coup happened; hence, their lives were spared.

Ibo man (Ironsi) became the beneficiary of the coup. He selected 3 advisers to determine the fate of the nation and he chose all Ibo (Francis Nwokedi, Dr. Pius Charles Nwabafor Okigbo and Colonel Patrick Anwunah). He also got an Ibo man to draft the decree (Ben Akabueze). He also made an Ibo man the attorney general. He continued the Ibo agenda that Azikiwe always dreamed of.

All that in a few weeks of holding power.

I still wonder why igbos see Awolowo as a betrayer whereas, history has it that it was Azikiwe that actually betrayed Awolowo and other southern leaders and went to form coalition with the northern leaders instead of meeting with Awo in delta.

So, in a nutshell Azikiw's greed is the reason why I am sharing the same country with Omo igbos and they keep accusing us of not letting them go to form Biafra.

It is well o
Zik was selfless and he wanted the north to feel belonged, unlike Awolowo who was parochial and selfish. Zik did what he did in order to help the north integrated with the south and not feel left out.

Just go and study to find out.

Before the turn of last century and before Nigeria gained Independence, the Yoruba already have primary schools, secondary schools, university, polytechnics, colleges of Education, university teaching hospital, highly educated skilled human resource , literary, film & entertainment industry, administrative bureaucracy, traditional institutions, train networks, ship harbours, industrial & housing estates, commercial agricultural plantations, motorable roads, and immediately at independence built Africa 's first stadium, Tv station, skyscraper etc in the Western region of the Yoruba then if you still don't know then you are either being mischievous or ignorant to ask how the Yoruba got ahead of you till today.

Here's how Yoruba high society wedding is organised in the 1920s https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/613824-lagos-high-society-weddings-of-the-1920s-by-tayo-agunbiade.html

Those families are still alive till date. I am sure you are one of those who heard Cardoso and started wondering. Read that article and you'll see how educated and successful the Yoruba of as far back as 1920s have always been.

Stop denigrating the success of the Yoruba because they were ahead of your tribe. The Yoruba went through a lot to get that head start. Many returned home from the new world they were forcefully shipped to to build Yoruba land because they love the land, their culture, language and those Yoruba who stayed back in the new world kept their Yoruba roots by still practicing their Yoruba religion till date.

You’re certainly not alright

Yorubas dominate the following businesses in Nigeria - fashion, music, tech, education, banking, construction, poultry, cash crops and engineering. So how would describe them as impoverished?

The only thing the Ibos dominate is trade which is not development in any sense

Hausas dominate transportation, cattle farming, food crops and textiles which are more value addition to any society

Even transportation, the peace mass, the CUO motors, the ABC ttansport, the peace air, the ekenedilichukwu and others are all hausas?
