Nigerian lady calls the police on her mum in the US, rough-handles her to get out of the house

Ifeanyi, calls the police on her mum and pulls her hair

A depressing video has shown the moment a Nigerian lady, Ifeanyi Paula, called the police on her mother after they had an argument over spiritual beliefs in their home in America.

Ifeanyi had a few days ago shared a video of herself and her mother arguing over her spiritual beliefs. The mother, a strict Christian, criticised the lifestyle chosen by her daughter and the dresses she wore.

Her mother had asked her for a photo to place at her altar for prayers. Ifeanyi declined flatly and told her mother she did not want her to take her picture or even pray for her.

Ifeanyi told her mother that she was spiritual and not religious.

Apparently, the gulf between the two widened and Ifeanyi had been packing her stuff all day waiting for her mother to go to work so she could leave before she arrived.

It would appear that the mother was aware of this plot and decided not to go to work. Ifeanyi decided to leave nonetheless, but the mother blocked the door.

She can be heard saying that she would not allow Ifeanyi to go because she definitely needs help.

Ifeanyi then decides to call the cops, but before they arrive, she makes another attempt to get out during which time she pulls her mother’s hair as they both struggle. She claimed the mother laid hands on her first.

She succeeded in getting out of the house and waited outside for the cops to arrive to help her get the rest of her stuff.

The police arrived and she told them her mother was abusive and that she, (Ifeanyi) was 25 years old and free to leave her family's house.

The police asked her to go with the stuff she had packed and return in the morning to pack the rest of her stuff. They promised to give her an officer to accompany her if she felt that her mother would give her trouble.

Interestingly, there are many US-based young Nigerians in the comments section who expressed being in the same situation as Ifeanyi and urged her to leave without looking back.

Some said they had similarly packed out when the conduct of their parents became unbearable.

One said she had not spoken to her father in years. Another said she had not spoken to her own mother in years too.

Watch the videos of Ifeanyi and her mother's confrontation here.

Japa may not be a victory for some after all. What they lose in the end may be more than what they gain. I can just imagine the anguish of that mother. She has lost that daughter for good, except God intervenes. And the 15-year-old remaining at home may follow in her older sister's footsteps soon judging from how she sounds in the videos. I hope the mum does not go to her grave lonely. Sad.

I don’t know why a 25-year old will still be living with her parents. And I bet she doesn’t pay rent or bills. I wonder why the mother was stopping her, if she were my kid I’ll be throwing her out.

Silly generation!

Backstory as seen on instablog. A lot of Nigerian parents are truly narcissistic and abusive. If you decide to japa its common sense to know that once they turn 18 they are no longer children and can move out. But this woman is controlling a 25 years old daughter who is a single mother. Jejely let her go and if she can’t survive after thats her business.

Mother and daughter are fighting like two rivals and you think what they need is someone to come in to play father? NAH! undecided

I know I am not supposed to enter into a debate with you, but for posterity sake, I will.

A father figure would not have made the mother leave the house to go hustle, leaving the children alone to raise themselves. The absence of a father figure and maybe also the absence of an older son has plunged the family into disarray. How come the daughter got pregnant after she left the house as well? A father or male figure should/would have prevented that from happening.

Obviously, there are cases where the male figure is equally useless, or his presence isn't felt, but those are exceptions, not the norm. The presence of a man is very important in families. Statistics support this across the world.

Single mother berths a single mother daughter. Where have I not seen this before? grin

The apple does not fall away from its tree.

A two-parent household remains the best, indisputably.

Go tell your tales of this fabled father figure to the many others out there who left home trying to escape their abusive fathers or maybe even a deadbeat dad. lipsrsealed

2. Oh, so father-figure is not in fact the solution in all cases and maybe not this one after all. OK now! undecided

As long as I don't support being controlled, this silly girl will soon realise what the mother was shielding her from.

Its Cold out there mehn. The street is very brutal.

When the chips are down, those her friends cheering her on will be nowhere to be found. Only her Mother will show up to carry her back. Assuming its not her dead corpse.

It's scary the kind of selfish, rude, loud and opinionated people the world is raising these days. Anyone who corrects them is narcissistic. They can insult anyone, but don't want anyone to talk to them.

This is what una kuku want and why is anyone even surprised by this when calling out your parents on social media is now even appearing fashionable.

Q17:23-24

And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"[1] and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."

You couldn’t see that the daughter kept politely pleading and asking so she could leave? She kept nicely asking and explaining that she needed to leave this abusive situation. And the mother kept forcibly blocking the door, not allowing her to pass.

The daughter is 25 for goodness sake, she’s not a child. She was just trying to leave a very abusive situation, and
get her and her baby out of that trauma. The mother was being aggressive blocking her not allowing her to leave.
