I wonder why they keep telling us what we know, and probably believe that by telling us, it implies they are working

Give Nigerians 24/7 electricity and watch automatic development. In five to ten years the GDP will be over one trillion dollars but no, they will rather be looting the money and keep promising.

One of the disadvantages to them is that fuel consumption with drastically reduce, only those who owns car and bike will be buying fuel.

This is what we have been saying for years, almost 3 decades and from the infancy of this forum.
Nigerians have the capacity to develop Nigeria.
All it needs is a reorientation of thought and processes (restructuring) away from individualism to a nature of collectivism and a break from self serving leadership.

Nigerians indeed generate more power than the state and the state organised power sector.
Nigerians indeed pump more water than all the state controlled and state organised water boards.
Nigerians indeed employ more security guards than the combined armed forces and policing agencies in Nigeria.
Nigerians indeed have more dollars in their vaults than the CBN can dream of.
And very soon they will probably earn more foreign exchange than the nation officially earns.

In truth this is the way it should be.
Resources and the potentials to create wealth should be in the hands of the citizens.
The only difference between advanced, developed and inherently prosperous societies and backward, third world banana republics is not the availability of resources but the organisation of these resources.

How they are cultivated and applied to purpose, vision and collective progress.
Incidentally this is the sole purpose of government. To aggregate resources and organise society towards a collective vision of prosperity.
This we have not been able to do since independence despite the monstrous resources that have come our way, all frittered away.

So in order not to wander away in thought, the power issue is simple.
Restructure it. Rebuild it from the ground up. Make it people-centric not exclusive. INVOLVE NIGERIANS. They have the capacity.
Build smart grids so that TRUE IPP's can inject power into the grid AND MAKE MONEY FROM THEIR ASSETS, such that instead of turning off their generators when "NEPA" comes they can keep them running for a little profit.

If this technological leap seems far fetched then organise power clusters where big generating individuals and companies can sell power locally as they please.

If this liberty still threatens the monopolists then why can't they simply ask the public to invest in power through shareholding, making it mandatory that the power sector be a TRUE public enterprise.

All it takes is ORGANISATION, the only purpose of GOVERNMENT.

The government taxed the citizens for bank transactions, calls, and fuel purchase through subsidy removal. They citizens pay high tariff for light they can't enjoy yet, the citizens still generates their own power supply through generator sets; is this not oppression?

Hmmm! This Adelabu sounds woke. But then, that's how Barth Nnaji and Fashola sounded during their times but they failed. They try to use sounding woke to deceive us.

Resolving the power sector will not be easy.

The biggest problem is that Nigerians are unprepared to pay a market determined price for electricity. This leads to a situation where the Discos sell power at prices that do not cover cost.

This leads to underinvestment by the Discos.

Also, the transmission problem needs to be resolved so that wholeale piwer can be transmitted to the Discos.

The obvious truth is that the authorities know what the problem of electricity is but lack the will to address it squarely.

It only buttresses the fact that our country lacks patriotic leaders.

All they are interested in is to exploit the wicked system to amass more criminal wealth to themselves.

After this "long grammar", it's our fervent hope that they would do what's right and save Nigeria/Nigerians from this unending electricity problem.

This is FALSE. That minister cannot prove how this data was generated.

How do you know the number of households that use generators without a physical census?

Oga, focus on looting money allotted to the power sector, and stop boring us with fake stats to prove you are working.

But you don explain the chain in the electrificaton of Nigeria before: generation, transmission and distribution. If the people behind generators are so powerful, why have they not also scuttled the solar industry?

It's the same reason why refineries are not work. Once you distort the real market price for price of consumables (electricity, fuel...) with subsidies in the name of "making it cheap" for the people, you create a cash cow for the crony capitalists.

The people that bought Discos are milking NBET electricity subsidy and are not ready to re-invest in their acquisition. We are lucky electricity is not easy to sell across the border like fuel, if not... grin

We blacks love to play hopeless and helpless victims of blaming others for all our failures instead of thinking out solutions and working to fix them.

If we don’t change our mindsets, then we will remain the scumbags of the world, irrespective of where we go.

Shame on government.
Can't provide power for it's citizens.
Yet , it's still them that is behind generator importation business.
And still make AGO & PMS unaffordable for the lower class, while killing businesses with high overhead cost.

As if you don't know the power problem Nigeria faces is deliberate. They will import generators and fuel, customs will take their share.

They will campaign with power, meanwhile GRAs and federal buildings have light.

If poorer African countries can have constant power in their major cities Nigeria has no excuse.

Too bad that the successive governments allowed that to happen. Just imagine the damage being done to the environment by generating power individually outside hydro and thermal which can be easily regulated.
Importation of the electric machines can also be regulated.
