A new twist has emerged in the search for a new technical adviser for the Super Eagles as former England and Manchester City Manager, Sven Goran Eriksson has been named as a new inclusion into the list of awaiting technical experts to be screened by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee members.

The NFF technical committee members are expected to meet today and nominate a successor to former gaffer, samson Siasia who was sacked last Friday.

The decision of the wise men which include ex-footballers and past soccer adminsitration will be announced on Wednesday to a waiting and apprehensive soccer fans.

Although four names have been touted to step into the technical adviser role of the Super Eagles viz: Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi and Bruno Metsu however, Tribunesports realiably gathered in London yesterday through Erickson agent that the Swede has been contacted by the NFF.

Efforts by Tribunesports to get reactions from Nigeria prove abortive as the Chairman of the NFF technical committee Barrister Chris Green, merely said that it was an internal matter for the committee to decide who handles the national team.

Also speaking on Monday Night Football of the DSTV Cable Television, a member of the technical committee, Victor Nosa Ikpeba said that if there was a need for a foreign technical adviser, nothing would stop the NFF from going for an experienced and knowledgeable coach.

Meanwhile, KADUNA United head coach, Maurice Cooreman has joined the list of potential coaches to have signified interest in managing the Super Eagles.

Cooreman said "I have lived in Nigeria for more than a decade. I know the people and I know their football very well even though I am a foreigner. And I know what the people think concerning football too.

"But I no longer see myself as a foreigner in this country because I am part and parcel of their football now. I have managed several clubs and people know what I have achieved with them."

According to supersport, the Belgian coach believes he is capable of managing the Super Eagles' stars.

Cooreman also said his experience of travelling around the country on a weekly basis as an NPL coach gives him an edge of discovering new talents for the Super Eagles.

"I know over the years that the problem has been managing the national team players. That is why I said I know the players well and I can manage them well. I have seen a lot of players in the league who can turn out to be big players for Nigeria if they are properly groomed.

"And I know I can scout round the country and look for players that will complement the efforts of the foreign-based players. I have worked with some of the players now in the national team. Taye Taiwo was my player at Lobi, Austin Ejide worked with me at Gabros and others," Cooreman said.

On Stephen Keshi and Sunday Oliseh as probable Super Eagles' head coach, Cooreman believes both men have towering pedigrees in the game.

But the Kaduna United coach fears that both men might lack man-manage citing Keshi's row with Togo star, Emmanuel Adebayor.

"I have big, big respect for Keshi and Oliseh. They were very good players. Keshi has a very good pedigree and same for Oliseh. But coaching and managing go together and I don't know if they are ready to do this because the Super Eagles is a very different team.

"Remember Keshi had problems with Adebayor, who is Togo's biggest player. Keshi achieved the World Cup ticket with Togo but still he didn't show he can manage his players well," Cooreman told SuperSport.com.

Cooreman has won the NPL title with Ocean Boys and Enyimba while he led Kaduna United to win the Federation Cup in 2010.

He was also head coach at Gabros International FC and Lobi Stars.

For some time now, Nigerian football has been in ruins. This is caused by the Football administrators we have in the country, who out of their ineptitude or sheer greed has made nigerians to groan in pain because of our football woes.
I supported Siasia to be given a chance to prove himself because of the sentiments the football pundits in this part of the world have raised about an indigenous coach but i always preferred a foreign technical adviser.
Now that Siasia has been tried and it did not work out, let us look at a foreign TA that knows this country like back of his palm, somebody who knows the temperament of an average Nigerian. Somebody that know the nooks and crannies of this country and can discover talents.
That person can be found in Maurice Cooreman, he has been here for more than a decade and knows our football. I know he can not rely on the foreign based footballers to achieve his aim.

I believe in Cooreman too but why take a swipe at Keshi and Oliseh? the best is to combine these 3, define their roles and give them boundaries, let Cooreman bring the players, let Keshi and Oliseh choose from his list of players, he can be made to select 20 home based and 20 foreign based while Keshi and Oliseh pick 23 out of these list.
