That they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity. - [KJV]

So that they lack bread and water, and shall be appalled with one another, and be consumed in their crookedness. - [TS2009]

The Lord has no pleasure in the death of a sinner, but He has vengeance in the death of a sinner. Their getting consumed and wasting away for their sins through famine and hunger caused by the siege or blockade that locked them in (as exemplified by Ezekiel’s drama show), even their wasting away for their iniquity, would not give God any pleasure but will give God vengeance. And the goal of God’s vengeance may not be for His pleasure, but surely be for justice and for purification. Please be advised that God does not just sit to seek justice for people, but to also seek justice for Himself. He seeks righteousness and justice both for others and for Himself.

In the bible verse above, the lack of food and water decreed upon Jerusalem was intentional, intended to bring them to a different point without leaving their current place, where they may be getting consumed by not consuming food, getting eaten by not eating and getting wasted away by way of no food waste or shit left in their belly.

Also in this bible verse above, Lack of food and water could cause damage of relationship or love in people for one another: I don’t think you want to see where extreme hunger and thirst turns people into beasts, and kills other basic human feelings in them except hunger, thirst, selfishness and wickedness. Even mothers would practically turn into cannibals, eating their own children and babies for hunger (2 Kings 6:25-29). As it is written,

Their faces are now blacker than soot. No one recognizes them on the streets. Their skin has shriveled on their bones. It has become as dry as bark. Those who were killed with swords are better off than those who are dying from starvation. Those who were stabbed bled to death. The others are dying because there is nothing in the fields to eat. The hands of loving mothers cooked their own children. The children were used for food by my people when they were being destroyed by a blockade. The LORD’s fury has accomplished His purpose. He unleashed His burning anger. He started a fire in Zion that even burned its foundations. Neither the kings of the earth nor anyone living on earth could believe that enemies or invaders would ever get through the gates of Jerusalem? They got through? Because of the sins of Jerusalem’s prophets and the crimes of its priests, who spilled the blood of righteous people within it.
