As UEFA rules state, Girona wont be able to play in the UEFA Champions League next season even if they qualify because they share the same ownership with Manchester City. UEFA's 'Integrity of the UEFA Club competitions: Independence of clubs' rule was adopted in 1998 and became effective since the 2000/1 season. This states that no two clubs or more participating in a UEFA club competition may be directly or indirectly controlled by the same entity or managed by the same person. Fair ⁉️ —Why RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig once compete in the season? After examining the operational structures during June 2017, UEFA declared themselves satisfied under their regulations that the two clubs (particularly Salzburg) were suitably independent from the Red Bull corporation, and sufficiently distinct from one another, for both be admitted to their competitions.

Naijaplos: This rule makes no sense and should be scrapped. Girona deserve a chance too, afterall Leipzig and salzburg are owned by the same company and are both in the UCL. |
