UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT TEACHING HOSPITAL SEIZED THE DEAD BODY OF A 9YEAR OLD BOY FOR MORE THAN ONE YEAR OVER UNPAID 50K BED FEE.

Mrs Chiaka a single mother, and the mother of 9year old Late Master Praise Chiaka has cried out calling on the management of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH to release the dead body of her son for burial. Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday 29th December, 2023, the grieved woman said her son, late Praise died in August 20, 2022 in UPTH and was taken to the UPTH mortuary, the hospital has refused to release the remains of her son to her over 50k unpaid bed fee.
Mrs Chiaka said she has written to the hospital management pleading for a waiver as she can't afford N50,000 to pay but no response, according to her she spent alot on her son's health but the boy couldn't survive.
She also claimed to have been denied access to see her late son in the mortuary.
UPTH is yet to respond to this claim by Mrs Chiaka.

But don't scapegoat the hospital management. Direct your cry to the government. If the government does not offer free medical care in the hospital, the hospital management does not have the authority to waive the 50k bill. I will blame the hospital management if the hospital is directed to give free medical care to people.
