Only Igbos have a very accurate pre colonial native calendar. The Igbo week is made of 4 days Igbo month is made of 7 weeks And the Igbo year is made of 13 months The Igbo year is a total of 364 days, approximately same with white man's 365 days in a year. 9 Likes 2 Shares

The OP is a rabid tribalist on Nairaland. Not suprised he said "Only" Ibo. Lots of tribe have accurate calendars before colonialism. OP should be penalized for posting false Information on Nairaland. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: The Igbo Native Calendar (picture) by Ogene001: 1:35am On Jan 02 |
Ireportlive:Northerners follow Arabs, nothing indegenous while Yoruba forged name of months. How can your so called lunar calendar be exactly same with oyibo 12 months calendar? I lived in yorubaland, they don't have Native market days (days of the native week) like Igbos 6 Likes |
Re: The Igbo Native Calendar (picture) by Ogene001: 1:38am On Jan 02 |
CameroonPepper:A native lunar moon based calendar cannot be twelve months and exactly coincide with oyibo calender months. This was forged post colonial 2 Likes |
Re: The Igbo Native Calendar (picture) by Ogene001: 1:42am On Jan 02 |
Ireportlive:Yorubas have no native calendar. You can't have a native calendar exactly same with oyibo own and a lunar calendar of 12 months. All you did was give yoruba names to oyibo months and it can't be pre colonial. Secondly, everybody knows that most native calendar don't start in January. December is actually the tenth month. September is also the seventh month. The year starts around February/March in all native calenders including biblical Jewish calendar 5 Likes 1 Share |
Re: The Igbo Native Calendar (picture) by Ogene001: 1:44am On Jan 02 |
Raskimonojendor:Yes, only igbo calender is pre colonial. The yoruba calendar he posted only gave yoruba names to oyibos 12 calendar months and this happened post colonial 5 Likes |

Goodvibes007:Please show it. In the north their local market use oyibo days of the week. Only Igbos have pre colonial days of the week, the four igbo market days 5 Likes |

I am sure other tribes have calendars too. The ancestors of different tribes which make up the region called Nigeria today were not stupid. |
