On enlightenment, I suppose we could talk about ways to reach it not downplaying the fact that for most, it can be instantaneous depending on their distinct spiritual evolution of millions of lifetimes while it may come in small doses for some.

The most powerful tool I have yet used is the use of Sounds while fixing my attention on the spiritual area.

There is the "Ohm" sound used by Buddhists and the HU sound mostly shared by Eckankar my current spiritual school.

Okay, so I started my spiritual journey last year, I tried meditating and I saw the impact, it was nice. But I wasn't consistent and the type of environment I find myself in doesn't make it easy to focus most times. So I thought, okay, when I leave my environment I'll start my spiritual journey afresh. But I keep craving that deep knowledge almost everyday, so I've decided that I shouldn't have to wait till I leave now, I could learn now and practice later.

So far, all I've done is meditating.

Oh cool. Try the HU sound singing (pronounced "Hue) in a long drawn-out manner. Try to put your attention or all of you in the spiritual eye area. Do this for 30min max before sleep.

You don't have to sing it aloud if there are people that may be disturbed.

It is way more advanced than meditation. If you have a profound experience, you want to write it down so get a diary app or a book for recording them.
