Hope this people are not trying to increase fuel price because I don't understand what this distorted stat is for.If they are conceiving the thought already, they had better abort it because it could be the last straw that breaks the Camel 🐪 back.

Before you jump into conclusions that Nigeria have the cheapest petrol price in the world after compare Nigeria salary structures to other countries you’re comparing Nigeria with in terms of fuel, tell us what is the minimum wage and salary structures of those countries? You people are quick to compare Nigeria to the world, a place were an average Nigeria live below one dollar per day, Nigeria system is a poverty stinking system if they want to compare Nigeria to the rest of the world they should compare us into terms of everything, not just price of fuel.

The write of this article on the fuel differences amongst countries with the cheapest fuel should also post another article that, the government should first make the naira to equal the dollars, and then sell one liter of fuel for 2 naira. Now it makes sense.

A report that dwells on the country
pump price of Petroleum products
without mentioning minimum wage level
of such countries is out of touch with
realities...

Global observers will understand the
Nigerian context when they discover that
the current official minimum wage in
Nigeria is 💲25 / month and not less than

Country/fuel price/gdp per capita

1. America $0.99 (₦833) / $70,000

2.Nigeria $0.77 (₦600) /$2,0653.

3.Libya $0.031.(₦28) /$6,347

4.Venezuela $0.035 (₦32) /$15,000

Which country is the odd one out of the 4?

OK, where does Nigeria rank in minimum wage of citizens? Always use that metrics to calculate it. Minimum wage per citizen to the cost of petrol.

It doesn't matter how "cheap" they can claim fuel is, how much is minimum wage? How can we be buying fuel at almost the same price with countries where people earn over $500 monthly(about 600k naira) as minimum wage?? And you call that cheap?!¿? Are we insane in this country?? ?? ?? This is just a ridiculous attempt at justifying how expensive PMS has become, its dead on arrival!

What is minimum wage? We are the problem. Are u saying all 200M Nigerian collect minimum wage?

Since independent, the higher the minimum wage the higher the prices of commodities. So let's naira has value and forget the minimum wage for few civil servants less than 20% Nigerian.

What's the rent and expenses in those places too?

More information are needed

Whatever the cost of rent is in those countries, most people can still afford to live off their low salaries, as long as they're not living above their means, but we cannot say the same for Nigeria.

What is the rent in Nigeria compared to minimum wage? Cost of electricity just rose a few days ago, cost of transportation also skyrocketed... all on a salary of N30k, which is more or less 30 USD a month!

Can someone earning 30k monthly afford to even rent a room apartment, feed, clothe and transport himself? Mind you a lot of state governments aren't even paying 30k, except for FG and a few states.

Whether people like you want to admit it or not, what people are earning is meagre compared to cost of living and if things doesn't change its gonna result in a crises cos people have to make a living somehow... It's just economics.

Even though fuel is more cheaper in Nigeria, our minimum wage is also very poor compared to the countries fuel is expensive

The basic implication of a national minimum wage is that every worker whether in the public or private sector must not earn below the minimum wage.

The question now is, how many of our private schools and other private establishments are paying their workers above the national minimum wage?

Some gas station in Huston, US sell for $2.3 per gallon. A gallon is approximately 4 liters. In nigeria gas sells for 650 to 700 naira depending on where you live. This is about N2,600 to N2,800 per gallon, adjusted pump meters not withstanding. @ 900 official rate per $, a gallon cost approximately $3 in Nigeria. So we can't say conclusively, that fuel is cheaper in Nigeria today compared to this location.

Comparing gas prices alone is misleading without comparing other elements:

What is our ranking with free quality education, where kids are fed quality meals twice a day and books provided.

What is the ranking for mortgage and housing system where you can pay 3% down-payment on the house value and pay the rest for 30 years at 3 to 4% compounded interest.

What is the ranking for good, efficient public transport system. I don't need to own a car or buy gas.

What is the ranking for quality health care system. NHs. I don't need to spend money on health.

What is the ranking on tax return? Where a decent percentage of the tax I pay is returned back to me and not chopped by politicians

What's the ranking in good, solid road network and infrastructures making it possible to get to the destination quickly with little or no impact on the car, fuel consumption and

What is the ranking on social security where the jobless, old and indigent or challenged people get paid a stipend monthly or biweekly to help them get buy and ease burden on friends and families

What is the ranking for unemployment rate and government wastage and recklessness??

What is the ranking on minimum wage. $15 per hour compared to $30k per month. At black market rate, an hours work is more than half a month salary.

And I can go on...............Put this in place, then you can take the fuel price any where you choose.

But that’s how you compare what’s the true value or not.

If one’s monthly minimum wage can’t afford a full tank of petrol then what are we talking about?

The statement was about price comparison and most of us are taking it to mean price affordability which is not the same. It's as if doing a size comparison of States in Nigeria and Yobe is listed as the #6 largest state ... but we are arguing it should not be because nearly half of it is desert .... not habitable. It is about size ... not about being habitable.

Hourly wage is what it is, a wage, not a salary. It is for the basically unemployed or unemployable. It has restricted working hours per day. The privileged wage can barely pull you through without handouts or social security benefits. Taxation is about 45 per cent of your two-week pay check. Car owners pool to work in these dire times. Your leisure times and expenses are curtailed. Welcome to the destitutes' club or bag ladies. Quit the utopian delusional deceit. It is hard in North America and Europe now!
