Aliko Dangote has reclaimed his position as the richest person in Africa, according to Forbes Real-Time Billionaires.

The ranking, which provides ongoing updates on the net worth and ranking of each individual confirmed to be a billionaire, showed that Dangote’s net worth improved by $10 million to $10.1 billion as of January 8, 2024.

He overtook Johann Rupert, South African luxury goods tycoon and his family. Rupert’s net worth as at January 8 was $10 billion, down from $10.7 billion as at December 30, 2023.

Dangote, who is the CEO of Dangote Group, now ranks 191st globally while Rupert and his family at 197th. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index also ranks Dangote as the richest person in Africa.

According to Bloomberg, the majority of his fortune is derived from his 86 percent stake in publicly traded Dangote Cement. He holds the shares in the company directly and through his conglomerate, Dangote Industries.

Congratulations to Dangote.

Dangote’s net worth improved by $10 million to $10.1 billion as of January 8, 2024.

It's better to join the players in the market in order to enjoy the fruits of the land than to remain as mere spectator and keep complaining no money in Nigeria.

Some will even sit morning till night on Nairaland and be fighting each other.

While some selected few are working on how to keep making fortune.

I Sell Real Estate, either you are in Nigeria or abroad; here you meet reliable Real Estate Consultant.

God Bless Nigeria.

Removing government influence, this man would have been an average businessman.

Congratulations to him, though.

Many doesn't know that Dangote is not even among the top 10 richest in Nigeria. Forget Forbes list, the real richest in Nigeria are underground.

For me Babangida is the richest man in Nigeria right now. Only his $12Billion Oil windfall loot in 1990 alone beat the combine worths of Dangota, Abdul Rabiu and Adenuga. By the way, $12b in 1990 is worth over 29billion dollars in today's money.

The billions of dollars recovered from Abacha loot since 1999 which haven't finished yet. If Abacha is alive today and enjoying in his mansion in Kano, would you have known he is worth that much?

Chasing the big bag. NO joy at all. Dangote should know that whatever his strive he cant be there forever. Abiola was there, Dantata his uncle was there. Tomorrow for sure another person will be there. He should look around him and do more people friendly business. Cement and everything else he monopolizes are beyond the common man's reach.

It is all by valuation which can be both objective and subjective. That's why you can wake up on Wednesday and hear that NSE lost N100billion and the next day, it gains N200 billion. And in all, not a single N1 changed hands.
