Ghali Na’Abba Died Without A House, Left ₦250k In Bank — Hussain Na’abba by jayjayolajide(m): 3:32pm On Jan 09
A former speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, died without a house in any part of the country, a close associate has disclosed.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Na’Abba died on December 27, 2023 in Abuja after a protracted illness.

Speaking during a Hausa podcast programme “Rigar Kaya”, the associate, who was identified as Hussain Na’abba, said the former speaker left N250,000 in his bank account.

He added that Mr Na’abba, who was the speaker of the 8th Assembly, struggled to settle his medical bills despite the position he held in the country.

He died without a house in Kano, Abuja, or Kaduna. His bank account also shows he had only N250,000 before he died. And after his Kano home was burnt by hoodlums, he squatted at mother’s mother’s house whenever he visited Kano.

According to him, Mr Na’abba refused to illegally amass wealth due to his conviction of living a modest lifestyle and protecting the interests of the masses.

Ghali’s ideology was pro-masses, and he always had good intentions towards his people. He’s also someone who committed everything he did to the hands of God.

“But since the government sponsored some Kano citizens to perpetrate violence against him and even burned his house, he became reluctant to build another one. He was shocked to see that the masses he protected and loved dearly rewarded him with arson.

“And despite the disappointment and heartbreak, that never hindered his ideology of serving the people until his death
,” he added.

While acknowledging the support from friends and former colleagues of Mr Na’abba, the associate said the life of the former number-four citizen should serve as a lesson to Nigerians and public office holders.

That is not a tangible reason to be broke.

You don't need to steal to be rich as a politician in Nigeria not to talk of the 4th citizen of Nigeria.

Only the allowances they earn can make any one at that level to be wealthy. There is too much money they earn aside the ones they still loot.

I think he wasn't prudent with money

That's his problem. He was Speaker for 4 years, and he was paid. Nigeria owes him nothing.

He was supposed to be a professional in any field which is expected to provide him food, clothing, and shelter. Anybody that thinks otherwise should be publicly executed

Bullshit

Whoever said Ghali Na'aba doesn't have a house is a liar.

Even on Sunday morning I passed in front of his house along Sharada road in Kano

The same way liars told us Muhammadu Buhari doesn't have a house apart from the ones in Kaduna and Daura.

They refused to tell us the $2.8billion that "disappeared" from NNPC when he was the minister of petroleum during Obasanjo's military administration in late '70s.

Fela had a song about the infamous thievery.

Buhari had later arrested Fela after he toppled the democratically-elected government of Shehu Shagari in December1983.

They also refused to tell us about the house he bought in Mayfair neighborhood of London after the "NNPC grand heist."

Bullshit

. You are right, he may have other houses somewhere.
But the one at Sharada phase 1 is just a plot of land and it has been sold, construction is ongoing on that plot of land.
