They are losing money. They are also losing subscribers especially in South Africa, to streaming services like Disney and Netflix as well as Amazon.

Not carrying afcon could lead to more defections. Especially here where Startimes was already planning to air all the games.

I think it's even too late for them. People have settled with options already. They made me to find out that my smart TV can pick up FTA without having to buy external FTA decoder.

I had to ditch them and use their dish for it. Now, I'm off DSTV and now settling for FTA forever. I like them nonetheless because they made me realized how powerful my smart TV was and I'm still going to watch all the matches for free.

Aside multichoice what other cable do we have that is relevant.

Exactly. The internet is essentially intruding into the realm that tv once owned.

I am not ready to say that TV would go extinct...some people still use radio for example...but the type of people that would have been sigining up for DSTV premium are now going for internet based alternatives.

Multichoice is fighting back tho...showmax and DSTV stream are its attempts to adapt to the new normal.
